When a young woman is subjected to threats, abuse and intimidation, solidarity must be followed by action.

After Nishu Azad reached out to Shri @RahulGandhi ji, he stood firmly by her and ensured that her voice was heard. The AICC Law Department immediately stepped in, deploying counsels to provide her legal assistance.

They also ensured the filing of a fresh, separate complaint against those who have been issuing threats, including rape threats, to Nishu in recent days.

We appreciate the lawyers of the AICC Law Department, Mahila Congress, and every Delhi Congress leader and worker who showed up, stood with Nishu and her family, and helped take this fight from solidarity to concrete legal action.

Delhi Police has made specific commitments. We expect each one to be honoured.

A Hindutva extremist Swatantra Bharadwaj is openly boasting that he broke open the head of a young protester’s father, who needed 60 stitches.

He further claims that Kapil Mishra’s intervention shielded him from police action, and asserts that not only Kapil Mishra but even Chirag Paswan is like an elder brother to him.

If someone can assault a citizen, openly boast about it, and flaunt political connections as protection from the law, what does that say about Delhi’s policing?

What does it say about the safety of ordinary citizens across Delhi-NCR?

This lawlessness is unfolding right under Amit Shah’s nose. That's why he is unworthy of the chair he occupies.
