ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ಶ್ರೀ @narendramodi ಜಿಯವರು ದೇಶದ ಸುದೀರ್ಘ ಕಾಲದ ಪ್ರಧಾನಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾಗಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯಿಂದ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಈ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಕಾರಣ, ಅವರ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಜಾಸತ್ತಾತ್ಮಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂವಿಧಾನಬದ್ಧವಾದದ್ದು. ಅವರು ಸತತವಾಗಿ ಜನರ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದು, ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಅತಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಹಬ್ಬವಾದ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ಬಹುಮತ ಪಡೆದು ಈ ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದು ಭಾರತೀಯರ ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿದ ಧ್ವನಿ ಮತ್ತು ಜನಾಭಿಪ್ರಾಯದ ನೈಜ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿದೆ.

ನಮ್ಮ ಈ ಸಂಭ್ರಮದ ನೈಜ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ಅರಿಯಲು ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಬೇಕು. ಜವಾಹರಲಾಲ್ ನೆಹರು ಅವರು ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಪೂರ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ದೇಶದ ಮೊದಲ ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರಿಕ ಚುನಾವಣೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಮುನ್ನ, ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷ್ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ವೈಸ್‌ರಾಯ್ ಅವರ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಮಧ್ಯಂತರ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೇವಲ ನೇಮಕಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಆರಂಭಿಕ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಜನರ ನೇರ ಮತದಾನದಿಂದ ಅಥವಾ ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯಿಂದ ಚುನಾಯಿತರಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ ಅಂತಹ ನೇಮಕಾತಿಯದ್ದಲ್ಲ.

ಇನ್ನು ಇಂದಿರಾ ಗಾಂಧಿಯವರ ವಿಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರೆ, ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ಕುರ್ಚಿಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಏಕೈಕ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ತುರ್ತುಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಹೇರಿದರು. ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಕಗ್ಗೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ವಿರೋಧ ಪಕ್ಷದ ನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಜೈಲಿಗಟ್ಟಿ, ಸಂವಿಧಾನವನ್ನೇ ಬದಿಗೊತ್ತಿ ಸರ್ವಾಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಆಡಳಿತ ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ನಮ್ಮ ನಾಯಕರು ಅಂತಹ ಸರ್ವಾಧಿಕಾರದ ಮೂಲಕ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲದ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಲ್ಲ.

ಆದರೆ, ನರೇಂದ್ರ ಮೋದಿಜಿಯವರ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಈ ಮೇಲಿನ ಎರಡೂ ನಿದರ್ಶನಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ. ಅವರು ಯಾವುದೇ ಒಳಒಪ್ಪಂದ ಅಥವಾ ಹಿಂಬಾಗಿಲಿನಿಂದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದವರಲ್ಲ; ಅಥವಾ ಸಂವಿಧಾನವನ್ನು ಅಮಾನತಿನಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟು ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವವರಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು 140 ಕೋಟಿ ಭಾರತೀಯರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದಿಂದ, ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂವಿಧಾನದ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟಿನೊಳಗೆ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾದ ನೈಜ ಜನನಾಯಕ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿಯೇ ಅವರ ಈ ಸುದೀರ್ಘ ಅಧಿಕಾರಾವಧಿಯನ್ನು ನಾವು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಗೆಲುವಾಗಿ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
