Learning Public Policy & Politics Beyond the Classroom

B.PAC organised an educational visit to Vidhana Soudha for students from the Department of Humanities, Presidency College Autonomous, Bengaluru.

A total of 26 students participated in the visit and had the opportunity to observe the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly firsthand, gaining insights into legislative discussions, democratic processes and the functioning of government.

The visit helped students connect classroom learning with real-world governance and encouraged greater awareness, participation and engagement in the democratic process.

With Gen Z set to play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of our democracy and cities, B.PAC’s Youth Engagement Initiative aims to create more opportunities for young people to understand governance, engage with civic and political issues, and become informed and active citizens.

For the past several years I have been arguing in favour of rigid pavements made of either brushed form-finish cement concrete laid in situ or use dressed granite 40 mm, as granite prices have fallen quite a bit.

Somehow BBMP and now GBA has been reluctant to move towards those designs and has been preferring interlocking cement blocks laid on sand bed. These interlocking cement blocks collapse and become uneven after one or two rains, and we see contractors replacing the cement blocks once every few years.

Several potholes dot residential areas in HSR Layout. One such pothole on 16th Cross started small and has now opened into a big crater — enough to hold a bucket of water. 🕳️💧

Residents say many have fallen in the early hours, and despite following up with the AE for 2 months, calls are being ignored. Even the Sahaaya App complaint hasn’t been acted upon. @GBA_office
