5 reasons people let their standards slip:
1. Temptation - you get woo’d. Vice’s. Just remember Trix are for kids. It ain’t worth it.
2. Disappointment - things don’t go your way, you start thinking “what’s it matter.”
3. Frustration - you let someone else piss you off so you stop giving your best.
4. Carelessness - start letting details become insignificant so your work becomes sloppy.
5. Ego - you lose humility and start letting yourself take shortcuts. You start thinking things don’t apply to you.
Sometimes it can feel like people are in your life to make things difficult, harder, or challenging.
Some may be.
But that’s just one perspective.
Another perspective is that they’re there to make you even stronger and become who you are meant to become.
Peace and complacency are completely different.
Peace - freedom from disturbance
Complacency - showing smug satisfaction.
Smug - excessive pride
It’s one thing to be at peace knowing things will improve.
It’s another thing to be complacent not believing things need to improve.
Your conviction can be your prison sentence or your path to freedom.
Belief works both ways.
It can keep you exactly where you are.
But it can also be the reason you CAN’T BE STOPPED.
Stressing and stretching sound very similar.
Don’t confuse what is stretching you to higher levels and let yourself crumble and say it’s all stress.
They’re called growing pains.
And growing pays.
Life is not always sunshine and rainbows. When obstacles and challenges come, if you want to win, - you have to say to yourself, “this sh*t is not going to stop me,” and take aggressive action.
Frustration paralyzes the weak mentally and fuels the strong.
You pick.
I keep things really simple to lead myself in the moment by deciding what I want more of:
Progression or Regression
Forward or Backwards
Develop or Delay
Stronger or Weaker
Positive or Negative
Haven’t Arrived vs Arrived
Gain Momentum vs Lose Momentum
Good Example vs Bad Example
You dictate what’s ahead based on how you think & what you do:
1. In the morning.
2. Once you start having success - can you keep the hunger?
3. Once you start having challenges - will you show strength or weakness in your mindset & decisions?
