ރައީސް ސާލިޙްގެ ސަރުކާރުން ކުރިމަސައްކަތުން އިނގިރޭސިވިލާތަށް ރާއްޖެއިން ބޭރުކުރާ މަހަށްނަގަމުންއައި ޑިއުޓީ %24 އިން %20 އަށް 2020 ގައި ތިރިކުރުމަށްފަހު، އެ ޑިޔުޓީ މުޅީން ކަނޑާލުމަށް ދެ ޤައުމުގެ ދެމެދުގައި ފްރީ ޓުރޭޑް އެގްރީމަންޓެއް ކުރުމުގެ މަސައްކަތް ބާރު ސްޕީޑުގައި ކުރިއަށް ގެންދެވިފައިވާއިރު، މިފަހަރުގެ ޑައަލޮގުގައި އެކަން އުނިކޮށްފައިވާ ސަބަބު ސަރުކާރުން ރައްޔިތުންނަށް ހާމަކޮށް ދެއްވުމަށް ގޮވާލަމެވެ.

Just because you are having difficulty getting USD, do you have negative feelings over ppl who have USD? This is called jealousy. U are having difficulty with this cox of the system. Multiple trips to Turkey from High Level delegations from Maldives including the President and the Foreign Minister. In addition to that now an official resident embassy of Maldives is opened in Ankara.

It is truly a shame that despite the numerous visits and meetings, the present administration is not able to secure a visa exemption agreement for Ordinary Maldivian citizens. Yet another big disappointment. 16 months since the new administration took office and only “One” country (🇹🇯) added to the visa free travel list. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Yet another official visit to an EU and Schengen country by the Maldivian Foreign Minister. It is extremely disappointing to see that there are no efforts made by the minister in reiterating the request for Schengen Visa exemption for ordinary Maldivian citizens. @abkhaleel our passport strength needs to progress. 🇪🇺🇲🇹🇲🇻

16 months ago, just after the inauguration of the present administration, the newly elected Maldivian leadership visited Turkey 🇹🇷 as the first official trip and upon return there were so many grand headlines across the country on the strong relations, potential partnerships and mutual areas of interest to be explored.

It is truly disappointing to learn that till date, all ordinary Maldivian citizens require an “E-visa” to visit Turkey. A visa exemption is something which is expected by the citizens of the country, at least to be an outcome of such a grand visit with high level of delegation.

The foriegn policy of the present administration along with two appointments of foreign ministers is truly a failure and an embarrassment as they were only able to facilitate visa free travel for “ONE” country (Tajikistan 🇹🇯) since taking office back in 2023.

Present administration focused on purchasing toys from Turkey that does not have a major impact on the people but rather considered a waste of the already depleted budget.

Atleast can the administration try to enable visa free travel to Turkey that has a positive and direct impact on the ordinary citizens of the country before engaging on other aspects. 🇲🇻🇹🇷

This is truly a disgrace! While the country has generated well educated talents that have the capability to lead the most dominant sector in the country, the leadership of present administration decides to merge it with Environment ministry. What experience and knowledge does the Minister of Environment have on leading the Tourism Sector? We can’t experiment and play around with Tourism sector, we need a dedicated, strong and well seasoned individual to lead it, especially given the situation with growing regional competition and the rise of new destinations such as Red Sea. I sincerely hope that the leadership reconsiders this decision. Such disappointment 😪

Local media’s promoting this news as a major achievement since it’s number one in the South Asia region, whereas the reality is, there was literally almost no progression to the strength of the Ordinary Maldivian passport in terms of the Visa Free Destinations, given the fact that the present administration was only able to secure one visa exemption agreement (Tajikistan 🇹🇯) within the first 365 days until now. It does not count as progress when diplomatic and official passport holders get granted visa free access which was the case for Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 and Oman 🇴🇲. Our ordinary passport needs to progress, so much of high level delegation meetings and the outcomes are just truly disappointing.

With the year 2024 coming to an end, the present administration was only able to secure visa free travel for ordinary citizens of Maldives to only “One” country (Tajikistan 🇹🇯). At this rate, we may wrap up the 5 years of this government with just one additional country per year or less.

It is even more disappointing to learn that the government held 6 high level delegation meetings, yet they were not able to secure a single visa waiver agreement for ordinary citizens of the country as outcome of those meetings which showcases signs of weak foreign relations.

The previous administration was able to secure visa free travel for more than 4 countries within the first year in office despite the world situation with Pandemic and without replacing of the Foreign Minister, increasing the number from 80-96 Visa free countries within the 5 year period. Our passport strength needs to progress 🇲🇻

This is a piece of advice after it has become clear to me that the scholars who supported you in ascending to power have not advised you as they should. Mr. President, did your state intelligence inform you that two women have been detained in police custody for showing solidarity with the Palestinian cause? These women went to the home of the Saudi ambassador and other diplomats, seeking help for the people of Gaza, who are being killed, starved, and displaced every day. As mothers, they couldn't bear to watch the suffering of Gaza’s children—their homes being destroyed over their heads or seeing their parents killed before their eyes. That's why they sought help from ambassadors and protested in front of embassies. They believed peaceful protests were permitted in the country, recalling how you yourself wore a red shirt with the words "India Out" and participated in protests in the streets of the capital and in front of the Indian embassy.

Mr. President, the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: "Beware of the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah." As someone who cares for you, I fear that the prayers of these women against you while they are in prison, as well as the prayers of their children and loved ones, may bring you harm. If their supplications reach you, it may become difficult for you to complete the remaining four years of your presidency. Therefore, I urge you to reflect deeply on this matter and appoint sincere scholars who do not fear criticism in their service to Allah and who do not flatter you for the sake of maintaining their positions, to advise and remind you in such important matters.

I condemn the use of hateful language against #India by Maldivian government officials on social media. India has always been a good friend to Maldives and we must not allow such callous remarks to negatively impact the age old friendship between our two countries.
