Just a HS History teacher with a whole lotta sass & a low tolerance for bullshit. Organization is the key to life. Lover of Starbucks™, the Red Sox, & beards.
My principal, when referring to why all of our student bathrooms keep getting locked, says that we’re in the process of shutting down “Vape Nation.” Honestly, I want it on a t-shirt. 😂
In the last 72 hours, I’ve been told my favorite administrator, my favorite guidance counselor, and my two closest teacher besties are leaving. Send help. I am NOT okay.
One of my honors kiddos, concerning her “panic” over doing the extra credit correctly: “Ms. Epp, you don’t understand. I’ve literally always been an over achiever. Most kids swallowed pennies. I swallowed a quarter. Made a whole scene out of it.” 🤣🤣🤣 Happy Monday, y’all!
Completed the School Climate Survey today. What exactly is the VDOE gonna do to help/solve the anxiety and burnout we’re ALL feeling?
Here are a list of things I need at the moment:
-More time
-More money
-More respect
-Fewer meaningless surveys
-Fewer meaningless tasks
If you take your child on a week-long vacation, please don’t ask me to send home their work for the entire week. I don’t even know what I'm teaching tomorrow.
Took 10 years of teaching to get to the point of anxiety & depression so crippling, I need medicinal support. The stigma around mental health for teachers is exhausting. We have to do better. I love you guys. This year, like so many others, seems impossible. But we can do this.
It wouldn’t be the first day of school if I didn’t get a massive paper cut and want to die.
Also; the heat is on in the building. Today’s high outside is 90. 🙃🙃
For the first time in my teaching career, I am teaching the religion of Islam in World History I, during Ramadan! My kiddos always end up loving this unit...excitement abounds! 🤗☪️🕋
What does it say about me that I found 5 different to-do lists and every item is crossed off on each of them EXCEPT for “Grade World I” and “Grade World Myth...”
On the upside, I completed and turned in my Teacher of the Year Essays and Forms into the SBO today. 🍀🍀🍀
Walking through the store this AM, I realized that “Pull your mask up over your nose, please,” is the new equivalent of “Take your hat off, please.”
Adults are the reason my teenagers [in the classroom] don’t wear their masks properly. Do better. 😷🙃
Second dose of vaccine yesterday... kicked my ass today, but I’m still teaching, because it’s not like the whole school can call in sick. The SBO really stuck it to us on this one.
