The American Somaliland Council (ASC) is proud to announce its official launch as the permanent national political advocacy organization representing the Somaliland-American diaspora. ASC foundational chapters includes Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, and Washington.
We are directly engaging with local and federal leaders as the official advocacy body of American Somalilanders.
Our work centers on driving legislative change, educating policymakers and solving critical social issues. We are also actively strengthening the cross-border friendship between our nations.
We will follow up soon to discuss how to become a member or create a chapter in your home state.

This video presents a map of Africa that includes Somaliland and counts 55 African nations.
As global attention shifts to the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa, Somaliland has become one of the continent’s most strategically important nations—positioned at the crossroads of global trade, maritime security, and international connectivity through the Gulf of Aden and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Somaliland's most immediate path forward is not just about seeking recognition abroad—it's about strengthening the foundations at home.
Many of our public institutions were built for a different era. Today, they need honest evaluation, modernization, and reform to meet the demands of a changing world.
Strong institutions create strong governance.
Strong governance builds public trust.
Public trust drives sustainable development.
The future belongs to nations that continuously improve—not those that stand still.
Reform is not a sign of failure. It is a sign of maturity.

The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland has approved the Joint Declaration issued by the Republic of Somaliland and State of Israel.
"In accordance with the Constitution, the agreements will now be submitted to the country's legislative bodies for consideration.”
#Somalia’s President has sparked controversy after a speech condemning Somaliland’s ties with Israel, describing saluting the Israeli flag as “a disgrace” and making remarks critics described as antisemitic and hostile toward Jews and engagement with the Jewish community.
Observers warned the rhetoric risks inflaming religious tensions and undermining diplomatic discourse in the Horn of Africa. #Somaliland #Israel

This image perfectly reflects today’s reality of Somalia’s flag — a state reduced to begging for survival, trapped in aid dependency, corruption, and zero vision.
Somalia must come to terms with reality and accept the existence of the Republic of Somaliland as a sovereign state.
Somaliland expects to reach a trade agreement soon with Israel, the first country to recognize its independence, and is willing to offer rights to valuable mineral deposits as part of a deal, President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi told Reuters https://t.co/4oxgSfjcPp
These two images tell two very different stories.
One shows chaos inside a parliament.
The other shows the President of Somaliland commissioning new military infrastructure.
One reflects disorder. The other reflects statehood.
Which one looks like a real government?
