Trying to analyze a situation without enough data was like looking at a photograph of a ball in flight and trying to gauge its direction. Is it going up,down, sideways? Is it about to collide with a baseball bat? With enough datapoints, you could predict just about anything #Data
For Africa, where many economies are fuel‑import dependent, this means weaker currencies, higher pump prices, and inflation piling on top of already strained household budgets. The East African Community (EAC) is particularly exposed.
Rising oil costs will ripple through transport, food, and manufacturing, intensifying inflationary pressures. Somalia, with its fragile economy and high reliance on imports, could see sharp spikes in consumer prices in the coming days.
The escalating Iran war is already shaking global oil markets. Brent crude surged past $80 a barrel within days of renewed conflict, raising fears of prolonged disruption in the Strait of Hormuz — a route that carries about 20% of global supply.
The latest SNBS October 2025 CPI data indicates an easing of food inflation both at the National level (+5.3% annually, +0.8% monthly) and across Federal Member States. While overall inflation rate stood at 3.9% in October 2025

Demographic data is very vital for all development planning in a country, because it provides detailed bench-mark data on all population characteristics. Despite the importance of census data, data consistency and credibility has been questioned in developing countries.
Kenya has carried out eight censuses; two pre and six post-independence censuses. These successful censuses have been held consistently every 10 years until the most recent of 2019, which recorded 47.6 million people. #Census2019Results
Huge progress as @WorldBank Statistical Performance Indicators Report shows Somalia’s SPI grew by 146.94%, from 19.6 in 2019 to 48.4 in 2022, thus moving continental ranking up to 39th place in 2022, from 2nd to last in 2019 @SharmarkeFarah@abdirahm_omar
