Heads-up 📢 ! I have a fabulous workshop planned for late June that will cover not only how to build a successful influencer marketing strategy, but also the key do's and dont's for influencer compliance.
It's perfect for those who are new to the busines…https://t.co/ZzJZifO1rL
Hate hate hate this word 😡. I grew up in an era (and location) where this was thrown at me all the time. Often before being chased, attacked, spat at. Any brown is a target - it never matters if you are actually Pakistani. No excuse for using it or laughing about it, @KSI.
@luciekerley @NikSpeller @ASA_UK Also, most platform T&Cs require you to use the platform disclosure tool so it's not good advice to avoid that. In UK it's probably still safer to use a disclosure label as it's subjective and still grey area as to whether your own language is going to be clear enough.
@luciekerley @NikSpeller @ASA_UK I see the point he's trying to make. Technically you don't have to use a disclosure label, BUT I disagree that you can disclose anywhere in the post. It should be upfront, not buried or at bottom of lengthy text. So yeah, even though this is for US, it's confusing.
A fascinating morning spent discussing online advertising regulation and, for me, speaking about the challenges and ethics of influencer #disclosure and beauty #filters / body image.
Why are influencers making mistakes when promoting their own brands? This week saw Mrs Hinch, the celebrity "cleanfluencer", fall foul of ASA rules. This blog explains what went wrong and how those mistakes could have been avoided. https://t.co/Nu4qHuLJVf #influencermarketing
Great to see these amazing British Asian influencers bringing fresh perspectives on culture, community and faith, but the amount of misogyny and racism they experience is shocking, even from within their own communities. #InfluencerMarketing

In summary, the ASA takes complaints about influencer posts seriously and investigates them thoroughly. Influencers and brands should ensure that their posts are compliant with the advertising rules to avoid potential legal action or damage to their reputation.

No juicy ASA influencer rulings published today😒so instead here's a thread on how the ASA investigates complaints about influencer posts.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is responsible for regulating paid-for influencer posts in the UK. How do they do that ..?

Influencers that repeatedly flout the rules may also be listed on a dedicated page on the ASA website to highlight their persistent non-compliance and deter future problems. The page is optimised to attract those searching for those influencer names.

Maximize the potential of your influencer campaigns with a well-written contract. Key tips include: defining scope of work, compensation terms, exclusivity & confidentiality, IP rights, and termination & breach clauses. #InfluencerMarketing#Contracts#DigitalMarketing
Influencers, gifts and taxes.
Now that HMRC has started sending 'nudge' letters to influencers, this is a gentle reminder that income tax must be paid on gifts received from brands in return for promo posts.
So remember #ad for gifted posts and taxes too!
@MahonySharron@BareReality As this is posted on Pfizer's account, I think it's clear enough that it's a paid endorsement. If this was on John's own account, that wouldn't be so obvious so yes it'd need a disclosure like #AD
