A man was seriously injured after the Omni van he was driving collided with a container lorry at Thamarassery Mukku in Kottarakkara around 3.30 p.m. on Thursday.

The injured driver has been identified as Althaf, a native of Karunagappally.

According to reports, the Omni van was heading towards Kottarakkara when it collided with the container lorry coming from the opposite direction.

Althaf was trapped inside the van following the collision.

A team from the Kottarakkara Fire and Rescue Services reached the spot and rescued him after breaking open the vehicle.

He was taken to a private hospital in Kottarakkara for treatment.

CCTV footage of the accident has reportedly emerged. Further details are awaited.

A police constable was allegedly bitten on his right hand by a drunk man while attempting to stop a brawl at a bar and restaurant in N. Chamakalahalli of Mulbagal taluk in Kolar district on Thursday evening.

Two persons, identified as Mohan Reddy and Gautam, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to police, Mohan Reddy and Gautam were allegedly consuming alcohol, creating a ruckus and quarrelling with the bar cashier, Gurushekar. Unable to control the situation, the cashier alerted the Nangali police.

Sub-Inspector H.D. Vidyashree and jeep driver constable Narayanaswamy arrived at the spot and attempted to pacify the two men. When the police asked Mohan Reddy to leave the premises, he allegedly bit Narayanaswamy on his right hand.

Hearing the constable cry out in pain, people at the bar rushed to the spot and managed to free him from the man's grip. The incident was captured on CCTV.

Mohan Reddy and Gautam were subsequently arrested, and a case was registered at the Nangali police station.

Further investigation is underway.

A woman was allegedly hacked to death by a man known to her at Shekharappa Nagar in Davanagere on Saturday. The suspect was caught by local residents and handed over to the police.

The deceased was identified as Nagaratnamma, around 50, a native of Jagalur. She had been living separately from her husband for several years and had raised her three sons on her own. Two of her sons work in Bengaluru, while the third lives with relatives. She earned a living by selling flowers and doing domestic work.

According to police, the suspect, Nagaraj Naik, had initially become acquainted with Nagaratnamma and later started frequently visiting her house. Her children reportedly objected to his visits and warned him to stay away. Five complaints had allegedly been filed against him, while Nagaratnamma had also filed a theft complaint against him.

Despite the complaints, Naik allegedly continued to harass her.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. when Naik, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, entered Nagaratnamma's house. An argument reportedly broke out, following which he attacked her with a machete.

Nagaratnamma reportedly tried to escape by running towards the upper floor of the house. However, the suspect allegedly chased her and attacked her at the entrance, causing fatal injuries.

Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to the house, but she had already died. The suspect was later seen walking on the road carrying the machete. Local residents caught him, tied him to a tree and assaulted him before handing him over to the police.

Davanagere Superintendent of Police Shekhar H.T. and other police personnel visited the spot and conducted an investigation.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

A 52-year-old woman was killed after a private bus hit the scooter she was riding at Chettupuzha in Thrissur around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Anita, wife of Sahadevan of Mankuzhi House and a native of Pullazhi.

According to police, a Shreyas bus operating on the Kanjani route hit the scooter from behind. Anita was thrown onto the road following the impact and came under the bus.

The West Police have registered a case and initiated further proceedings.

A 30-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified persons in Shirur town of Pune district on Friday morning, with police examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers.

The incident took place around 6.30am near Ambedkar Nagar.

The victim, identified as Hari Gangawane, sustained multiple bullet injuries and died at the spot, police said.

A CCTV camera installed near the scene captured the incident.

Residents alerted the Shirur police after hearing gunshots.

A police team led by sub-divisional police officer Ravindra Bhosale and police inspector Vinod Patil reached the spot soon after.

A forensic team was also called in to examine the scene and collect evidence.

Police recovered empty cartridges from the spot and seized them for further investigation.

Investigators are examining whether the killing was linked to previous enmity, a gang-related dispute or a financial or property-related dispute.

CCTV footage from nearby shops and junctions is being examined to establish the sequence of events and identify those involved.

Special police teams have also been sent to different locations to trace the suspects.

Police said the motive behind the killing is yet to be established and further investigation is underway.

A man accused of killing his wife at a lodge in Doddaballapura was found dead in a lake in Madugere village in Gauribidanur taluk on Tuesday. Police suspect suicide.

According to police, Anand allegedly strangled his 23-year-old wife, Vidya, with an ID card lanyard at a lodge in Doddaballapura on September 15. The incident came to light the following day, after which Anand reportedly went missing.

His body was later found in a lake in Madugere, his native village. Police said he had allegedly left his motorcycle near the lake before climbing a jali tree. A liquor bottle and a cigarette packet were found at the base of the tree.

Police also found the mobile phones belonging to Anand and Vidya in his pocket.

The body was found in a highly decomposed condition. A case has been registered at the Gauribidanur Rural Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

A 23-year-old woman was found dead at a lodge above Samruddhi Hotel in Doddaballapura town of Bengaluru Rural district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Vidya, a resident of Nagaragere village in Gauribidanur taluk. Her husband, Anand, is reportedly missing following the incident, and police have launched a search for him.

According to preliminary information, police suspect that Vidya may have been strangled with an ID card tag. Her husband allegedly took her mobile phone and fled the lodge following the incident. However, police are yet to establish the exact circumstances surrounding her death.

Vidya and Anand had reportedly married for love around four years ago and have a son. The couple had been living in a rented house in Gandhinagar, Doddaballapura. Anand is a resident of Mudugere village.

Police said the couple had been facing marital disputes for the past six months. About two months ago, Vidya reportedly left her husband and moved to a paying guest accommodation in Bengaluru.

Following her disappearance, Anand had filed a complaint at the Doddaballapura Women's Police Station. Police later traced Vidya and, around 20 days ago, counselled the couple before sending them back together, according to police sources.

The couple had reportedly resumed contact after the counselling. On Wednesday, Anand brought Vidya to the lodge, following which he allegedly went missing.

A case has been registered at the Doddaballapura Town Police Station. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Vidya's death and searching for Anand.

The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination report is received. Further details are expected to emerge from the ongoing investigation.

Tension prevailed during the fifth-day Ganesh immersion procession in Hosapete after a group of youths allegedly assaulted a young man near the Big Mosque in Kaul Pete on Saturday.

According to reports, the incident occurred amid a large gathering during the procession.

A group of around seven to eight youths allegedly chased and assaulted the young man.

Police personnel who arrived at the spot intervened, following which the group reportedly fled the area.

The incident comes under the jurisdiction of Hosapete Town Police Station.

Home Guard Anand, who was involved in assaulting a woman at Hafizpet Railway Station, has been arrested and will be produced before a court for judicial remand. He is working with Railway Protection Force.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh Reddy said the Cyberabad Police takes such incidents seriously and reiterated that professional conduct, discipline, dignity and respect for every citizen are fundamental to policing.

He further said that the Home Guard has been removed from the rolls. He added that the Telangana Police will not tolerate any form of violence or crime against women and follows a strict zero-tolerance policy towards such offences.

A video purportedly showing a policeman beating a woman with a baton and dragging her by her hair outside Hafeezpet Railway Station on Friday night has drawn condemnation.

The video, which was circulated on social media, shows the uniformed personnel allegedly beating the woman with a baton before dragging her by her hair.

Locals alleged that the woman had misbehaved and used abusive language prior to the incident.

However, the alleged conduct of the personnel has drawn criticism, with people demanding that the circumstances leading to the incident be investigated and appropriate action taken.

In a statement, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) said the incident had been enquired into and the personnel concerned was identified as a Home Guard of the Telangana State Police deputed for duty at Hafeezpet Railway Station.

The RPF said the Home Guard was repatriated to the Telangana Police department for necessary disciplinary action.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) district president Jaibheem Vallabha staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office around 2 a.m. on Saturday, carrying his daughter. He alleged that his child fell ill due to loud DJ music.

Vallabha, a resident of Gol Market Extension, Raichur, claimed that despite police restrictions on playing DJs at night, the rules were not being followed. He alleged that excessive noise was causing health problems for young children and elderly people.

Demanding immediate intervention, Vallabha reportedly asked the Deputy Commissioner to come to the spot.

Police personnel intervened and asked him to raise the issue with the Deputy Commissioner in the morning.

Expressing his displeasure, Vallabha questioned whether the Deputy Commissioner’s sleep was more important than the health of children and said he would remain at the spot until morning.

Police later pacified him and assured him that his daughter would be taken to a hospital for treatment and that a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner would be arranged in the morning.

Tension prevailed in Holerahalli village of Doddaballapura taluk after KRS party taluk secretary Jayanna alleged that he was assaulted during a government survey of land belonging to the village police station.

According to Jayanna, he had been protesting for the past two years, alleging that a person identified as Prakash had encroached upon the police station land in the village.

Following the complaint, government officials visited the spot and conducted a survey of the disputed land.

During the survey, Jayanna reportedly attempted to record the proceedings on his mobile phone.

Jayanna has alleged that Prakash and his wife assaulted him while the survey was underway.

The incident was reportedly captured on his mobile phone.

Following the alleged assault, Jayanna approached Doddabelavangala Police Station and filed a complaint.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

Three persons were arrested on September 19 for allegedly murdering their relative and his daughter at the Avaradi Gram Panchayat office in Kittur taluk in Belagavi district of Karnataka.

A team of police officers arrested Basappa Shivanappa Kundaragi, Sangappa Shivanappa Kundaragi, and Madiwalappa Kundaragi on September 18.

The trio were produced in court, which remanded them in judicial custody.

They face charges of hacking to death their relative Rudrappa Shivanappa Kundaragi and his daughter Shashikala.

The father and daughter had gone to Avaradi Gram Panchayat office in Kittur taluk to enter their names in a property register following a court order.

During this visit, the accused allegedly picked up a quarrel with the victims over the property before attacking them with sickles and stones. As a result, Rudrappa and Shashikala died on the spot.

The accused also allegedly attacked a person named Rahul, who had intervened to stop the altercation, with a sickle before fleeing from the spot. Rahul suffered injuries, but survived.

A case was registered at the Kittur Police Station (Crime No. 228/2026) under Sections 103(1), 109, 62, and 3(5) of the BNS Act-2023, and an investigation was initiated.

A 67-year-old former soldier and his 26-year-old daughter were allegedly hacked to death by their relatives inside a Gram Panchayat office in Karnataka’s Belagavi district on Wednesday, with police suspecting a long-running ancestral property dispute behind the attack.

The deceased have been identified as Rudrappa Kundaragi and his daughter Shashikala Kundaragi, residents of Sattur in Dharwad. Rudrappa, a native of Avaradi village, had previously served in the Army and later settled in Dharwad.

The incident took place around noon at the Gram Panchayat building in Avaradi village of Kittur taluk, where Rudrappa had gone in connection with property-related documentation. Shashikala had accompanied him.

According to Belagavi Superintendent of Police K Ramarajan, Rudrappa and his daughter were allegedly attacked by his own brothers, Sangappa Kundaragi and Basappa Kundaragi, and Basappa’s son Madivalappa Kundaragi.

The accused allegedly attacked Rudrappa with sickles. When Shashikala tried to intervene and protect her father, she too was attacked and killed. Police said she was also allegedly struck on the head with a stone.

Government officials, including the Panchayat Development Officer and other staff members, were present on the premises and witnessed the attack. Some of them also recorded videos of the incident, which police said would form part of the evidence.

Rudrappa’s car driver was also seriously injured in the assault and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Separately, Shashikala’s friend Rahul, a resident of Shivagiri in Dharwad, was also reportedly attacked and seriously injured. He was shifted to Dharwad District Hospital.

Police suspect the killings were linked to a dispute over ancestral agricultural land.

According to the police account, the family dispute centres on 38 guntas of property. A court had ordered the land to be divided among three family members.

Rudrappa had allegedly sold the portion allotted to him but later maintained that he was also entitled to a share in the remaining property. The dispute reportedly continued between him and his brothers.

Ramarajan said Rudrappa had obtained a court order in his favour and had gone to the Panchayat office to submit an application seeking the entry of his name in the RTC records. He had come for verification related to the application.

According to the SP, Rudrappa’s brothers believed that execution of the court order could result in the property going to him.

“He was trying to get the court order executed through the legal process. His brothers allegedly feared that if the order was executed, the property would go to Rudrappa,” Ramarajan said.

Police suspect this was the reason the relatives allegedly attacked Rudrappa and his daughter.

Police teams are examining video footage recorded by people present at the Gram Panchayat premises.

Ramarajan said the first video examined by investigators showed the accused initially attacking Rudrappa. When Shashikala tried to stop them, she was also attacked.

The video also appears to show Shashikala being struck on the head with a stone, according to the SP.

“She went to intervene and protect her father, and they attacked her as well,” Ramarajan said.

Police personnel from Kittur police station, along with the Circle Inspector, Bailhongal Deputy Superintendent of Police and other teams, reached the spot around 1 pm.

Scene of Crime Officers and Forensic Science Laboratory teams inspected the premises and collected evidence.

The bodies of Rudrappa and Shashikala have been shifted to a taluk hospital for post-mortem.

Police have launched a search operation to trace the accused, while further investigation is underway.

A long-running domestic quarrel and his wife's failure to answer his phone calls allegedly culminated in murder when a 40-year-old man from Bihar killed his wife at their rented house in Bilekahalli on Sept 16, police said.

After strangling her, the accused allegedly poured hot oil on her face in an attempt to disfigure her and make the death appear to be a suicide. However, discrepancies in his account led police to suspect foul play.

The deceased has been identified as Gunja Maddheshiya, 38, a homemaker, while her husband, Ranjit Kumar Gupta, has been arrested.

According to preliminary investigation, the couple had quarrelled frequently over trivial issues for the past three months.

Around 9.30am on Sept 16, Ranjit left for work but returned shortly after and picked another quarrel with Gunja. Both their children had left for school by then.

"He assaulted and killed her... Ranjit sat behind her on the floor, put a dupatta around her neck, and strangled her to death," a senior officer said.

Around 3pm, Ranjit allegedly returned home, heated cooking oil and poured it on Gunja's face to disfigure her.

However, her face was not completely burnt. He then closed the door and left for work. Later in the evening, he returned, pretended to be shocked by her death and alerted neighbours, claiming that Gunja had died by suicide.

The house owner learnt about the death around 8pm and told police about the couple's frequent quarrels. When police inspected the house, Ranjit repeated that his wife had committed suicide.

However, police inspector Nataraj DN and his team noticed discrepancies in his account and behaviour. He was detained and questioned.

During questioning, Ranjit allegedly confessed to the crime. He told investigators that he had brought Gunja and their two children from his native place 18 months ago. Their disputes intensified in recent months and Gunja had failed to answer his calls a couple of times, he allegedly told police.

The couple's son and daughter have been sent to stay with relatives. Ranjit has been remanded in judicial custody.

In a shocking incident, a young college student was allegedly assaulted by four girls on camera in Satna district of eastern Madhya Pradesh.

The assault allegedly followed her refusal to befriend and enter into a relationship with a male student.

The incident came to light after a video of the girl being verbally abused and physically assaulted by the group went viral on social media.

The four girls had covered their faces with scarves.

An FIR has since been lodged, but none of the girls or the boy allegedly involved with them has been detained so far.

The victim and the four girls who allegedly assaulted her, are said to be students of a prominent private college in Satna district.

The alleged incident took place on August 5, 2026.

The BBA student said her close female friend called her to Semariya crossing. At around 2.30 pm, the friend took her on a scooter on the pretext of visiting a relative’s house.

Instead, she took her to a deserted place near the Nagar Van (city forests).

When the BBA student reached the spot, three other female students were already there.

The four girls allegedly assaulted her for refusing to enter into a relationship with a young male student who had been regularly troubling her on WhatsApp.

The viral video, possibly filmed by one of the four girls, shows them verbally abusing and repeatedly punching and kicking the BBA student. She alleged that they also attacked her with a wooden stick.

In the video, one of the girls is seen attempting to strangle her. One of the girls can be heard shouting, “You are trying to become a leader, you’ll be buried.”

The BBA second-year student alleged that the four girls were forcing her to enter into a relationship with the youth, who they said would pay her money.

When she refused, they assaulted her, causing injuries to her right ear, back and other parts of her body.

The ordeal ended only after she apologised to the youth on a video call.

Confirming that an FIR has been registered, Satna district police superintendent Hansraj Singh told to media on Sunday, “The complainant girl and those who allegedly assaulted her are all known to each other and friends. We are verifying all allegations and counter allegations, based on which further action will be taken.”

A 73-year-old man was arrested after his car allegedly hit a parked motorcycle in South Delhi’s RK Puram on Wednesday night, dragging it for around half a kilometre.

Police said its rider fell on the road and escaped without serious injuries.

Passersby had chased the car along Africa Avenue and forced the driver to stop.

The incident took place around 10 pm when the car was travelling from Bhikaji Cama Place towards R K Puram Metro Station.

Police received information about the accident at 10.22 pm and a team from the RK Puram police station reached the spot.

According to police, Tanish Tokas, 21, a resident of Munirka village, was sitting on the motorcycle parked by the roadside when a blue Honda Amaze allegedly driven by Venu Gopal, a resident of Vasant Kunj, hit him.

The impact caused Tokas to fall off the two-wheeler. Police said the motorcycle was subsequently dragged by the car for some distance.

A three-minute video recorded by people at the spot showed commuters following the vehicle as it dragged the bike, causing sparks on the road, and eventually forcing the driver to stop.

The video shows people surrounding the car and asking the driver to step out. Gopal can be seen folding his hands and apologising during the confrontation. Some people allegedly slapped him.

Police said Tokas was medically examined and did not sustain any serious injuries. The accused was examined as well and no alcohol was detected in his system.

A case has been registered for rash driving or riding on a public way and rash or negligent act that endangers human life or personal safety and causes simple hurt.

Further investigation is underway, police said.

A video showing a resident allegedly assaulting a security guard inside a lift at Eco Village 2 in Greater Noida has gone viral.

Other security guards and a woman are seen trying to intervene and stop the fight.

According to Bisrakh police, the incident took place on September 15 following a quarrel over parking.

The tenant, Naveen Paswan, had allegedly parked his car in a no-parking bay.

A security guard asked him to move the vehicle and followed him into the lift.

CCTV footage shows the resident allegedly slapping and punching the guard.

The society management and the security guard later filed complaints.

Police registered an NCR for assault and took cognisance of the incident.

Some reports said Paswan was detained by the police.

A 25-year-old man was murdered by unidentified assailants in broad daylight at Shivajinagar on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Chittari Hari Babu, husband of YouTuber Vaishnavi, who was murdered in Korutla of Jagtial district in March.

Hari was an accused in the murder case and had recently secured bail.

According to preliminary information, Hari was drinking water at a pani puri stall in the afternoon when a car arrived at the spot.

Three persons reportedly got out of the vehicle, and one of them allegedly attacked him with a weapon.

Hari died at the scene, after which the assailants fled in the car.

Police officials reached the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry.

The body was shifted to Government General Hospital, Nizamabad, for postmortem.

Two Town police have formed special teams to trace the assailants.

Clues teams examined the scene and collected evidence, while police are analysing CCTV footage.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is under way.

While police suspected members of slain YouTuber Vaishnavi’s family of involvement in the daylight murder of Hari, a selfie video has surfaced in which her brother Santhosh claims responsibility for the killing.

In the video circulated on social media, Santhosh says he had been waiting for justice for months following his sister’s murder and was on his way to surrender to the police. He also appeals to viewers to support him and help him in the cases against him.

Santhosh says he had come to Nizamabad on Thursday for another purpose and was carrying swords in his vehicle.

On spotting Hari and his mother, he allegedly attacked the 25-year-old, saying such an incident should not happen to any family.

He further alleged that his sister’s murder was linked to Hari’s family, while claiming he was unaware of his mother’s involvement.

Towards the end of the video, Santhosh, who appears emotional, says he has a wife and children and appeals to the public to help him fight the cases.

Chithari Hari Babu, 30, accused in the sensational murder of popular YouTuber Vaishnavi, has been hacked to death by unidentified assailants in Nizamabad city on Thursday.

Vaishnavi, a native of Korutla, had married Hari Babu in 2025 after they fell in love.

On March 17, 2026, Vaishnavi had allegedly been murdered at her residence.

Based on available evidence, police arrested Hari Babu and remanded him to judicial custody.

While continuing their investigation, police reportedly found that Hari Babu had allegedly harassed Vaishnavi for additional dowry, reportedly at the instigation of his mother and brothers.

Police treated dowry as a possible motive for the murder.

Hari Babu had subsequently been released from jail while proceedings against him remained pending.

Hari Babu started living with his mother in Nizamabad and sold maize at Raja Rajendra Chowrasta.

Police said three unidentified men arrived in a car on Thursday and attacked Hari Babu with knives while the latter had been standing by the roadside.

After injuring him seriously, the assailants fled the scene. Hari Babu died of knife injuries.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Nizamabad ACP B. Prakash said that they have formed special teams to nab the attackers.

"We suspect relatives of Vaishnavi are involved in the attack," the ACP said.

Police have registered a case related to Hari Babu’s killing and have launched an investigation to identify his attackers. They are collecting CCTV footage and other evidence from the scene.

A Central GST Superintendent was caught on camera allegedly accepting an Rs 8 lakh bribe during a trap operation conducted by the Bengaluru City Lokayukta.

The accused has been identified as Mohit Pratap Singh, Superintendent, Central GST, South Division-4, South Commissionerate.

According to the Lokayukta, Singh allegedly demanded the bribe from a businessman in connection with pending Central GST dues and to close what was claimed to be a false complaint against him.

According to the Lokayukta, the complainant, Syed Zameer, alleged that Singh had demanded Rs 8 lakh to "close a false complaint" filed against him in connection with pending Central GST dues.

After receiving the complaint, Bengaluru City Lokayukta officials laid a trap and allegedly caught Singh while accepting the money through a mediator.

The Lokayukta said a private individual, Salman Sheikh, allegedly acted as a mediator in the transaction and has also been named as an accused in the case.

Officials said the bribe was allegedly accepted inside Singh's chamber at Kendriya Sadan in Koramangala, where the trap operation was carried out.

A case has been registered under Section 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.

The Lokayukta said further investigation is underway.

A woman died after the car she was travelling in plunged from a flyover on the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway near Ummadahalli Gate in Mandya.

According to reports, the car was travelling at high speed on the flyover when the driver lost control and the vehicle hit the divider. The car subsequently fell from the flyover.

Anjana, 32, sustained serious injuries, including a severe head injury, in the accident. She was being shifted to a hospital for treatment when she succumbed to her injuries on the way.

Police from Mandya Central Police Station visited the spot and conducted an inspection.

Further investigation is underway.

Chithari Hari Babu, 30, accused in the sensational murder of popular YouTuber Vaishnavi, has been hacked to death by unidentified assailants in Nizamabad city on Thursday.

Vaishnavi, a native of Korutla, had married Hari Babu in 2025 after they fell in love.

On March 17, 2026, Vaishnavi had allegedly been murdered at her residence.

Based on available evidence, police arrested Hari Babu and remanded him to judicial custody.

While continuing their investigation, police reportedly found that Hari Babu had allegedly harassed Vaishnavi for additional dowry, reportedly at the instigation of his mother and brothers.

Police treated dowry as a possible motive for the murder.

Hari Babu had subsequently been released from jail while proceedings against him remained pending.

Hari Babu started living with his mother in Nizamabad and sold maize at Raja Rajendra Chowrasta.

Police said three unidentified men arrived in a car on Thursday and attacked Hari Babu with knives while the latter had been standing by the roadside.

After injuring him seriously, the assailants fled the scene. Hari Babu died of knife injuries.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Nizamabad ACP B. Prakash said that they have formed special teams to nab the attackers.

"We suspect relatives of Vaishnavi are involved in the attack," the ACP said.

Police have registered a case related to Hari Babu’s killing and have launched an investigation to identify his attackers. They are collecting CCTV footage and other evidence from the scene.
