Hypocrisy Has a Date: 26 August 2024

Today Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi asks: “When the US envoy came among us, did you ask him why killings were carried out in Palestine and Iran?”

Fair question. But there is another question:

Did you ask the same thing on 26 August 2024?

That day, Ruhullah himself was present at Omar Abdullah’s Gupkar residence when three US diplomats Graham Mayer, Gary Applegarth and Abhiram Ghadyalpatil met Omar Abdullah.

And Gaza was already enduring a devastating war, with Israeli military operations, strikes and displacement continuing.

The public record of that meeting highlights discussions on J&K and US travel advisories not Palestine.

So, Mr MP, was Palestine absent from your questions then?

Selective outrage is not principled politics. It is hypocrisy.
