Remember when they called fans toxic for saying Berhalter should go after one cycle? If you're a member of the old boys club they will coddle, protect, defend and attack the fans for you.
If you are an outsider who is trying to make us better, they want your head.
🚨 Chris Richards’ mother on paying for football in America:
"When the economy crashed in 2009, we lost everything and were pinching pennies every week. I remember Chris handing me a letter that said if we didn't pay his soccer fees, he wouldn't get to play. I was so embarrassed.”
USMNT legend Landon Donovan on the state of youth soccer in the U.S. 🇺🇸🎙️
“Only 2% of kids playing organized soccer in America came from households that made less than $50,000.”
“If you don’t make $50,000, your kid cannot play organized soccer.”
ah classic tactic from our country, shift the blame towards someone else in an effort to distract people from the real problem. journalists like this believe you are stupid and can't think for yourself. remember that.
Thierry and Zlatan saying they wouldn't have become soccer players because of the costs of the American youth system, then seeing Lalas say it's a great system because it makes a lot of money for some people really sums it all up nicely
They’re already doing to Cavan what they did to Pulisic
Putting the entire future of the sport in this country on a teenager’s shoulders. Have we not learned a single thing?
Btw lalas supporting the current system is basically proof that it doesn’t work. Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic would never have had the money to pay for the American system. So we are stuck with players like Lalas and Pulisic as a result of this exclusion.
not one apology for the dog shit we all witnessed last night, not one apology for the years of prep that went down the drain, i hope one day this federation crumbles to the ground because it's the only way forward
It's MLS's fault they don't develop better players. And yes, your MLS All Stars are dogshit, that's why Poch kept Barfsten on the bench for 4 WC games straight and gave him a measly couple of garbage time minutes when our WC was over.
You all gargle MLS balls, listen to Landon Donovan whisper fairy tales of Barcelona paying 20 million for Barfsten if he had a French passport, then look dumbfounded when Poch rolls out a "eurosnob" starting XI for every single WC game ignoring your Roldass, your Barfstens your Miles Robinsons (MLS DOTY, surely that means he's world class). Lil Sebby was his go-to MLSer and only used as a substitute, never truly good enough to replace Adams either.
You don't know the levels in this sport. Our best XI isn't elite but your MLSMNT would be trounced by even worse teams than the competition we faced.
For folks who are new to this - the U.S. is light years behind other countries in soccer. The infrastructure of the academy system, technical & tactical training are not on the same level. The pay-for-play model is also destroying youth development in this country. A goalkeeper with proper technical training doesn’t make that mistake. This #USMNT was more talented than past teams, but there’s still a big gap between us and the top in the world.
Probably the most misunderstood part about soccer is the type of athlete it requires.
Soccer players run close to 10 miles and are in motion for 90 minutes. NFL players run about 1.5 miles and are in motion for like 6ish minutes.
You need marathoners, not quick twitch.
