30,000 tonnes of waste does not appear overnight. We need the Environment Agency to fess up & tell us the dates that this site was reported to them & when they physically & legally shut it down.
There is a repeated pattern of the EA not acting to shut sites down & allowing tens of thousands of tonnes of waste to be dumped into nature. At Hoads Wood it took them 6 months to act, at Kidlington at least 3 months and at Stapleford Tawney on the River Roding it took a year & even then they only acted when I set up a petition & got the media involved.
Lawyers for Nature is calling for a simple duty on the EA to shut down all significant illegal waste sites in days, not months or years, & to remove any waste dumped after they are informed about a site. We think this is reasonable; if you agree, please sign & share this petition.

When a 200-year-old oak tree collapsed in Coventry in October 2023, local residents Patrick and Melanie decided to sponsor a tree nearby to honour its legacy ๐ณ
By sponsoring a new oak tree, Patrick and Melanie hope to revive this vibrant ecosystem and bring life back to their street.
There are so many reasons to sponsor a street tree - what's yours?
@pondsntrees Agreed possibly our most important plant providing late nectar & berries during the winter + cover for hibernating insects & essential for the Ivy Bees ๐ which mimic Wasps
The FREE plastic tree guard recycling hub is taking place this Thursday and Friday (5 & 6 June) at @EssexWildlife's Abbotts Hall Farm, Great Wigborough.
Around 5.6 tonnes of plastic was collected at the 2024 hub ๐.
There are trees, and then there are trees so special that they stand on their very own podium. This one is a treasure in every season, but adorned with the freshest, brightest new spring leaves, shining in the early morning sun, it's hard to imagine it ever looking more perfect.
The Escley Oak - Michaelchurch Escley, Herefordshire ๐ณ
One of the largest and oldest oaks in England.
It looks as though it has two separate trunks. However this massive tree is hollow, thus creating this illusion.

@iwgardendesign@treemissions Calculations are usually based on large trees. It takes years to get to the point where they make a significant contribution. Even if trees are planted (they aren't always) there is no guarantee they will not be cut down.
