This afternoon, I received Prof. Anna Tibaijuka, a senior member of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) of Tanzania, who paid me a courtesy call at State House, Entebbe.
We exchanged views on the long-standing relationship between our two countries and our two movements, the NRM and CCM. The relationship between Uganda and Tanzania goes back a long way.

Today, at State House Entebbe, I presided over the swearing-in of three Ministers: Hon. Amb. Adonia Ayebare, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Hon. Shartsi Kutesa Musherure, Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development in charge of Micro-Finance; and Hon. Witonze Juma, Minister of State for Internal Affairs.

I congratulate them and urge them to focus on eliminating corruption and inefficiency in Government through proper supervision and accountability.

On dual citizenship, I stressed that while the arrangement was introduced to address Uganda’s difficult history, people must be clear about where their loyalty lies. Ultimately, the East African Federation remains the long-term solution to questions of identity and integration in our region.

PICTORIAL 📸: @Onc_nrm1 Manager @ChiefMuzzukulu Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye today monitored the ongoing Local Council II (LC II) elections in Kampala, as residents turned up to choose their parish leaders in a peaceful and orderly process.

During her visit, Hajjat Namyalo toured MTG Gogonya 2 Polling Station in Nsambya, where she interacted with voters and election officials while observing both the voting and tallying exercises.

After the poll count was completed, Parish Election Officer Pyoto Rogers declared Lubowa Fred the winner of the LC II Chairperson race for Central Parish after securing 149 votes.

The LC II elections are a crucial part of Uganda’s grassroots governance structure, with parish leaders serving as the key link between communities and the wider local government system. At this level, leaders play an important role in mobilising residents, addressing local concerns and supporting the implementation of development priorities that directly affect households.

For the NRM, strong grassroots leadership is central to ensuring that government programmes and development initiatives are effectively understood, embraced and translated into meaningful impact at community level.
