News: Secret Service officials are furious that FBI Director Kash Patel prematurely announced on Tuesday morning the details of a sealed and ongoing criminal investigation into a plot to attack the UFC fight event this weekend with drones, according to three people familiar with the incident.
Secret Service and FBI agents had been partnered on the investigation into a group of individuals discussing plans for a drone attack at the White House in the last week, and had discussed unsealing the case and making an announcement later that day. The problem with Patel’s social media announcement, the sources say, was the case had been sealed in court and roughly ten suspects had not yet been arrested and placed in custody at the time Patel made his public social media post.
Secret Service and FBI officials had discussed seeking to make more arrests, unseal the case by late Tuesday afternoon and make a joint public statement, and were surprised by Patel “jumping the gun.”
“We all woke up this morning to see this on Twitter,” said one administration official, who like others, asked to speak confidentially to discuss sensitive matters.
The threat to the UFC event became known to the Secret Service and FBI in the last week when a relative of one of the suspects contacted local police in the Cincinnati area, according to two people briefed on the probe, and reporting that their relative was talking about engaging in some vague plot in DC.
An advanced threat interdiction team at the Secret Service, with the help of the FBI, began seeking a subpoena for an encrypted Signal chat thread and then were able to identify the plot being planned and some of the people discussing using drones and possible snipers to attack the UFC fight event at the White House’s South lawn.
Authorities then arrested one suspect on June 13 and moved immediately to seal the case so the FBI and Secret Service could continue investigating and identifying and arresting additional suspects. The Secret Service also dramatically increased its plans for security around the event as a precaution, and put out an alert to its law enforcement partners to be on the lookout for people with drones in downtown Washington and other identifying information.
Matt Quinn, the Secret Service’s deputy director, called out Patel’s premature announcement in a Tuesday news conference but did not use his name and said the Secret Service made a conscious decision not to reveal the existence of the probe prematurely.
“I’ll tell you a phrase I learned early in my career in the New York field office and that’s `Don’t choke on your own smoke,” he said. “I’ll tell you the Secret Service led that investigation from the beginning. I’ll tell you that case is ongoing. In order to maintain the integrity of the investigation and the security plan, we chose not to leak it.”
He said he was choosing not to discuss extensive details of the case because it remained sealed and ongoing.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Compare the latest leak to Iran's 14-clause version published by Mehr News and the gaps tell you everything about what's still being negotiated.
Iran's version includes, US version omits:
▪️$24 billion in frozen assets (specific number)
▪️Missile program permanently off the agenda
▪️Proxy/resistance group support permanently off the agenda
▪️US force withdrawal as a commitment, not a condition
US version includes, Iran's version omits:
▪️Withdrawal only happens "if a final agreement is reached"
▪️Oman and Gulf states involved in maritime negotiations
▪️No specific asset figure, just "available"
Both versions agree on:
▪️Hostilities end including Lebanon
▪️NPT reaffirmation
▪️Blockade lifted
▪️Hormuz reopens toll-free for 60 days
▪️Oil sanctions waived during talks
▪️$300 billion reconstruction fund
▪️60-day negotiation window
Iran published a victory document. The US published a framework document. They're not the same agreement.
The 60-day negotiation period is where those two versions have to become one, and the hardest gaps are the ones only one side put in writing.

It turns out the reason that Netanyahu stated its time for the US to end its $3.8 billion dollar a year arms subsidies to Israel is because House GOP leaders have inserted provisions into the NDAA now being considered by Congress to integrate the US and Israeli militaries. This integration is being planned to a degree the US has never done before with any other foreign military establishment with tens of billions of dollars of joint research and arms production.
This will serve to ensure that the US military continues to be used as Israel's Foreign Legion to fight Israel's wars so Israel doesn't have to expend any ground or naval forces to do so. This just shows the level to which Israel, a tiny country the size of El Salvador controls not just the White House but Congress as well.
Finally, an extremely easy to understand explanation for why Donald Trump is surrendering to the Islamic Republic of Iran on Friday
So many of his fans are struggling to understand how under their fat orange hero America got its ass handed to it by a minor power, and here you go
Here @Wiswesser explains the activities of Russian intelligence services. It's an important 3 minutes.
He quotes one Russian operative, when asked why Russia doesn't engage with diplomacy with Ukraine, "Diplomacy doesn't matter. We're trying to destroy the system the United States set up... They want to destroy the way the world functions, liberal based democracies and law functioning societies. They want to destroy it."
"I believe it's all meant to coerce the West, to intimidate European partners not to help Ukraine in particular."
"The most important thing is to understand how they think... Their culture is a thugocracy. These intelligence services are like giant mafia bands... They have no equivalents. A lot of people say the FSB in Russia is like the FBI in the United States. Nothing further from the truth."
"It's a bully culture, and that goes back to the Chekist traditions of the KGB."
New: US intel agencies have recently assessed that Iran can effectively turn the Strait of Hormuz on & off -- at will -- going forward, meaning it has acquired a powerful new ability to hurt the global economy as a result of Trump/Israel starting the war, sources tell me & @NatashaBertrand.
“We have now handed Iran de facto control over the strait – a weapon more powerful than any nuke,” 1 of the sources said.
This MOU text has been confirmed by multiple sources: the laughable pretense of a "deal" signed on Sunday, supposedly to be signed on Friday. Some obvious problems: (written by an international security nerd)
-(1.) "together with their allies in the current war"
Israel has already said they won't be bound by the agreement, and won't halt operations against Hezbollah or leave Lebanon.
-(4.) Immediately, the US must lift the blockade. But Iran will "take steps to ensure that the movement of merchant ships... is resumed within 30 days." Both sides get 30 days for full traffic. But it's massively slanted. The US has to immediately "lift the blockade" and not interfere with Iran's traffic, and IRGC "takes steps." And by the way, NOTHING about unregulated traffic or tolls (which US officials said wouldn't be imposed for 60 days--already laughable). IRGC controls the strait and can do whatever they want with it, even immediately after signing the MOU.
Hell, they can even restrict certain countries' ships. Nothing in there forbidding it. These realities are tacitly implied and accepted, i.e., IRGC will "ensure movement of merchant ships". It's their governance.
-(6.) Financing of at least 300 billion. I mean, come on man. You think Trump is going to authorize that after torching JCPOA relentlessly? It doesn't matter if the money is from the US or not. He knows he would be mercilessly dunked on.
-(7.) Re sanctions, the language is so loose as to be a complete dead end between parties that hate each other.
-(10.) Actually huge problem. MOU says US will immediately issue waivers for all existing sanctions (in all areas). The problem? Iran has 30 days to "take steps" opening the strait (by their discretion, to whom they want), eventually to full traffic (by volume) by day 30. So it gets waivers for 4 weeks, while it "takes steps" opening the strait. How's that for pay for performance?
-(11.) Again, like 7., so vague as to be a complete dead end. There needs to be some structure to these agreements, even MOUs, and especially between adversaries with ZERO trust for each other. With no structure, two essential clauses are functionally meaningless.
This text is somehow both extremely IRGC-favorable (the strait, where the IRGC will have full control; sanctions waivers immediately, without performance) and also completely meaningless and vague for anything beyond the early stages (later nuclear talks and fund releases). There's a reason the IRGC just sees this "deal" as a favorable stalling tactic. What they may not realize: this is a stalling tactic for the US too.
Anyway, looked at objectively just on its own (separate from the frame on why both parties are stalling, set out in my pinned post and replies), this set of terms is clearly DOA as a structure for progress.
BUT, it's very easy for Trump or the IRGC to sign it (if either wants) and then simply not comply. There are even 30 day buffers built in before traffic is supposed to rise to full volume (though the US is immediately required not to interfere with Iran's traffic, whereas the IRGC is not). Anyway, 30 days stalled (but where the IRGC can gets its ships out) suits both of them. More stalling. More of the strait being closed.
Conclusion? You guessed it. The deal is theater.

Y’all, not to be a huge nerd but for the reflecting pool you would need a minimum of about 8,000 liters of 12% hydrogen peroxide to reach the 50 parts per million concentration to kill algae…
Is this what happens when you have 0 scientists in your administration?
🚨 DHS conducted raids this morning in Minneapolis, targeting rapid responders. In a few hours, they will announce conspiracy charges against popular defenders who allegedly resisted federal occupation of the city, describing them as “antifa” groups. Another NSPM-7 case.
ELOU-AVT-6, a primary processing unit at the oil refinery hit this morning in Moscow, is seen here burning merrily. The unit is a critical part of the entire refining process. Without this unit, the refinery cannot process raw crude oil into usable fuel products.
@Penelopesire1@kzbom Ted Cruz was Peter Thiel's first political project. He picked Ted out, brought him to events, funded his first political run (for TX AG), kept funding him til he got him in as Senator.
Fun fact: Cambridge Analytica was developed to help Ted Cruz in his presidential run.
New today: Peter Thiel's secret society of illuminati had a website so insecure it exposed his entire membership list. And it's... interesting. His Palatantir folks, sure. Leonard Leo. The president of Stanford. Ezra Klein. And some D politicians who really shouldn't be there. 1/
WTF IS GOING ON WITH OIL FUTURES?
Consider that:
12.8 mbpd were lost (and continue to be lost) for over 100 days
Supply recovery is expected to take 3-6 months
Physical crude and refined products remain tight and at big premiums
Commercial and national inventories have been drawn down like never before.
Yet if you read the futures forward curve now vs pre war, the market was tighter then than now.
Before the war, the market expected supply to tighten faster and more severely than it does now.
If you can explain this to me while keeping a straight face, please do so.
Staggering that the NYT reports Trump/Miller are plotting to suspend habeas corpus (i.e. end the constitution) & by the end of the day it's treated as a non-story, not anywhere near top of major news' outlets websites.
When Fitch comes out and directly says the Ai bubble in stock market is contributing to the now extreme K shaped consumer that’s destroying the US economy, it’s usually best to shut your mouth and listen.
The translation is, America is screwed and the higher markets go, the deeper and worse Great Depression to expect.
The last K shaped exuberant economy to fail was in the 1920s.

Three weeks from today, federal student loan repayment changes under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act take effect. Here is what is actually changing.
For any borrower with loans disbursed on or after July 1, 2026: Income-Based Repayment, Pay As You Earn, and SAVE are gone. The only income-driven option available will be the new Repayment Assistance Program. The Education Department published guidance updates this week in preparation - though the department has lost roughly half its total workforce since the administration began, and the $1.7 trillion loan portfolio begins transferring to Treasury in July, starting with 500,000 defaulted accounts.
Treasury has never administered student loans. The department receiving the portfolio cut nearly a quarter of its own staff. The SDCC president said the transfer will "deepen the confusion and chaos for millions who are still waiting for clear, reliable guidance."
For borrowers already in SAVE - the 7 million people thrown out of the plan by the Eighth Circuit earlier this year with 90 days to find a new option - the clock is running. The guidance changes this week do not resolve the question of what their path forward is.
The administration says borrowers don't need to do anything. Advocates say the system is being transferred in a reckless and disorganized manner to an agency unequipped to run it. The guidance is updating. The clarity is not.
If you have federal student loans, July 1 is not an abstraction. Find out now which repayment plan you are in and whether it survives the transition.
Trump will move the Special Education arm out of the Department of Education altogether, as Education gets redistributed to HHS and the DoJ Civil Division.
This is the very same discrimination the IDEA law sought to end for kids with special needs. https://t.co/UlEFXBNkn0
