I hate overhead lighting - trying to mimic the holy sun should be considered sinful. The lamp is much better, mimicking the hearths of our forebears.

My least favourite part about this heat wave is that I can actively feel it shortening my fuse and making me unreasonable about random things

The last month all I’ve done is write 5000 terrible and barely connected words for a chapter, edit them before giving up, redo my outline and start rewriting all of those words again but to be less terrible. Ah, the PhD life.

I’ve been taking melatonin to fall asleep too much so I’m switching to a new strategy of reading an incredibly dense and/or boring book before bed. Tonight it’s a 600 page history of the Middle Ages, wish me luck
