@ATLegend_1@ChasingSnyder They have loads of experience studying film and analyzing the game. The best heart surgeon in the world isn’t necessarily the best TEACHER of heart surgery. How is Belichick so brilliant at coaching/teaching the game of football if he never played in the NFL??
@Ebk_A1@Co1azo Can only play who’s in front of you. Yes they had a much easier side. Spain scrapped together a draw against Cape Verde, they’re not always pretty. Just saying, to call the #1 team in the world, who made the WC final “mid” is def a stretch
@Co1azo@Ebk_A1 I mean they were ranked #1 in the world for a reason. Of course Messi is a part of that, but to say it’s a mid Argentina team is a stretch. They had 8/11 returning starters from then 2022 World Cup team. That’s a lot of talent and experience. They played Spain 0-0 before the red
@Co1azo@tavishsharma15 And to be clear, I’m not expecting the team to win the World Cup, or even get there. They haven’t beat a team ranked higher than them in world ranking since 2002, which they did twice. But another 20 years I suppose
@Co1azo@tavishsharma15 They made it to the quarterfinals in 2002 and haven’t made it back since. My idea of improvement would be getting back to the quarters, god forbid winning that game. I guess your idea is that we have more players playing in Europe. Which hasn’t amounted to anything
@Co1azo@tavishsharma15 That’s what we said 10 and 20 years ago though. I wish I could be as optimistic as you. I am just going by what I’ve seen for 20+ years. Ultimately you’re graded by end results, and there’s been no improvement, quite literally
@Co1azo@PerryGPapa Then lost to Belgium who you say you were much more scared of. We were much closer to them in world ranking, 11 to 14 than this year, 9 to 16. It was a lot of the media this year, being on home turf telling us (American audience) how good we are. Our 2014 team was better
@Co1azo@PerryGPapa USA bias media coverage and a significantly easier group this year clouded your judgement I think. 2014 we had group of death. 0-1 to Germany who won it all that year. Tied a great Portugal team. And beat Ghana
@Co1azo@PerryGPapa Academies alone don’t equal success. In the USA they are just a money grab. Look at Brazil the last 20+ years and how they have struggled against European teams. They shifted significantly from free academies to like 80% of them being pay to play.
@Co1azo@tavishsharma15 But where has it got us? Expectations raise every World Cup? We missed the World Cup just 2 world cups ago. Haven’t improved World Cup performance in 20+ years. This is what we always do. Claim how much things have improved, but always fold when we play a decent team.
Of course Caitlin Clark can be the GOAT of women’s college basketball without a championship.
Those UConn players that act special because they joined 20 5-star players at a title factory are being ridiculous.
