Having been sick when Hawk Wing died last December, I couldn’t pay homage to the great horse properly. With the Lockinge on tomorrow, it felt like the perfect time to honour him.
In the piece, I spoke to those who knew him best.

@wesstreeting Too late for this you sniffling little weasel. You're still allowing a doctor who claimed he didn't shoot enough Gazan babies to practice in the UK.
@RyanWhatmough That's fair enough, can certainly see why some would be aggrieved by that. Just thought the reaction was OTT, especially as it was a good Probert ride on a horse who clearly quickened well to give himself some breathing space. Best horse obviously second.
Probably get stick for this, but on second viewing strong criticism for Havlin’s ride on Sweet William looks unjust. Was a length behind the winner turning in, maybe 1½ length going to 3out before being badly outpaced and then running on strong. Class ride for Probert instead.
@boxingfitnessjy You don’t know if one crack would’ve got him to win. As Fallon always said, the stick is not a go faster tool – the horse was responding; but yes, I agree he should’ve got a crack. Cooper is one owner who wouldn’t want the stick being used much, especially on this horse.
@boxingfitnessjy Not using the stick doesn't warrant the grief he got for that ride. The horse was responding, but yes, should have got a crack. Being badly outpaced 3out > 1out cost him; just didn't have the gears off that gallop.
If people say he should've been ridden handier, fair enough.
"I hope he can step forward nicely after his Gordon Richards return; to be fair, he will need to"
@HawkWing2002 has provided his horses to follow ahead of a competitive card at Sandown Park this evening...
The latest Israeli military evacuation order is even more extensive, ordering all those living south of Zahrani river to move north. That’s about 14% of Lebanon ordered to leave their homes after the Israeli military declared it a ‘combat zone’. That’s roughly 300 towns and villages, tens of 1000’s of people.
He was one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s most successful racehorses but now Spirit Dancer is enjoying retirement in County Donegal. His connection with the county is all down to the top jockey Oisín Orr who rode the thoroughbred to some big wins for the former Manchester United manager
