The Reception children enjoyed a trip to the science lab last week where they got to see the eggs in the incubator and 2 chicks who had hatched that morning. This week we got to go and hold them! @HawthornsSchool
Miss Evans and the children from the school council decided on some playground rules. They organised a poster competition and the winning posters will be put outside in the playground. The school council are choosing their favourite posters next week. Good Luck! @HawthornsSchool
Reception children have enjoyed learning about 3D shapes. They have loved looking around the classroom to see which ones they can find. What 3D shapes can you see? @HawthornsSchool
The Reception children have been learning about different types of transport that can fly in the air and in Maths we learnt about symmetry. We ended the week by following instructions to make a symmetrical paper aeroplane and flew them to see if they could fly. @HawthornsSchool
Santaโs beard is very bare, on his chin there is no hair, so each day add a puff of white, when his beard is full heโll that night!
The children were excited to stick their first cotton wool ball on Santaโs beard. @HawthornsSchool
The Reception children loved seeing so many fireworks over the weekend. We let them create their own firework picture and using 2D shapes they made a rocket to stick on top! @HawthornsSchool
Today was the Early Years project day. Reception children started the day by decorating a bonfire cake and then we met the Rainbow and Ark children in the woods. The children enjoyed singing songs around a bonfire and all got to eat a toasted marshmallow. @HawthornsSchool
To celebrate Book Week, over half term the children had the option of making a puppet of their favourite book character. There were lots of brilliant entries! In school this week the children have enjoyed looking at Joseph Coelhoโs poems. @HawthornsSchool
Reception children enjoyed creating a pumpkin picture by using marbles to mix red and yellow paint to see what colour it made. There was also the opportunity for some observational drawings of a pumpkin. @HawthornsSchool
Reception K enjoyed a 'Write Dance' session today. We listened to a story, moved around the room and made smaller marks in shaving foam. Write Dance is a great way to help children's handwriting skills. @HawthornsSchool
The Ark children have enjoyed a great outdoor week and although there was a little bit of rain today it was the perfect weather for a bug hunt! @HawthornsSchool@HawthornsOL
