🎉 Happy 290th Birthday, Joseph #Haydn! Here, François-Xavier Roth conducts the festive finale of the Symphony No. 59, aka "Fire Symphony" » https://t.co/NwZ6uloKem, a relatively early work, composed in the mid-1760s, soon after Haydn entered the service of the Esterházy family.
Happy Birthday to Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809)!
We share with you a video of Leonard Bernstein conducting the Vienna Philharmonic / Wiener Philharmoniker in a performance of the finale of Haydn's Symphony No. 94 "Surprise".

[#BIRTHDAY] 😉🎶 Papa Haydn turns one year older! Relive the 2015 edition of the @LucerneFestival alongside a playful @SirSimonRattle, who conducted his own 10-movement mash-up of Haydn’s greatest hits, and Haydn-esque musical jokes! 😉🎶 https://t.co/REgy2WaPG0
Today is #Haydn’s birthday (born 1732). At times of anxiety or trouble, I’ve found his music to be wonderfully stabilising & restorative, especially the symphonies, string quartets & choral music. Thankful for him today.
Happy Birthday Joseph Haydn
Here is his house in Haydngasse, Vienna where he spent the last 12 years of his life and composed the Creation and the Seasons
He kept a gray, red-tailed parrot that greeted visitors by squawking 'Papa Haydn!'
A wonderful place to visit
"He became a vessel for the piece." My tribute to Bernard Haitink is now up. Deepest thanks to Sir Antonio Pappano, Vladimir Jurowski, @conductorben, @kennethwoods, @KalliJari, Paul Watkins, & @DSCH_Journal editor Alan Mercer for their moving contributions https://t.co/g8p3UV6iKb
@conductorben@HaydnProject During a kids proms a few years ago I had an open podium for the littlies to give Pomp and Circ 4 a go. Some of them had a clarity of beat and economy of gesture that would shame some of the megabucks maestros I’ve suffered.
My (very-nearly-three) Felix conducting an orchestra for the first time: a read through the start of Haydn 59 with @HaydnProject ❤️ He’ll be nicking my gigs soon.
✈️ BER-LHR. Thanks to my dear @babylon_orch colleagues for another brilliant sold-out Metropolis at @BABYLON_Berlin last night - see you next week! Safely back in London, and ready for a day of @HaydnProject ❤️
Feeling incredibly lucky to have a weekend of favourite things ahead: Metropolis with @babylon_orch at @BABYLON_Berlin on Sat, and Haydn 43 & 59 back in London on Sun with my dear @HaydnProject. It’s been 22 months since I’ve conducted any Haydn, and I can’t WAIT.
