It's with a heavy heart at the passing of Rep. Hoa Nguyen that I am announcing my bid for the appointment to replace her seat for House District 48. 1/
At the state I can also focus on prison reform, housing of immigrant families, tax reform, and business development - including pushing for a business incubator in East Portland / East County! 3/
I apologize to the residents of this neighborhood for the lack of true assistance to the area to prevent businesses from giving up on y'all. We need to make safety and livability a top priority of our elected officials again! @ufcw555 7/π§΅

Y'all, I'm not going to sugar coat it - Gateway Fred Meyer announcing their closure in September is horrible news for East Portlanders, and something we've been warning local leadership about for a few years now. 1/π§΅
Our neighbors are at risk of losing their jobs, or at least having to spend more time and money traveling to a new location if they choose to do so. I thank UFCW Local 555 for their support of union employees at this store...6/π§΅
People who live near highways are generally lower income than most others, and losing amenities means they're living exposed to higher levels of noise and air pollution for no reason at all once the convenience of the location disappears. 4/π§΅
I will never stop fighting to create a safe community where fathers live and children can enjoy the gift of having a father. Where community policing preserves life and where community members see every life as one to be valued and protected. Have an amazing Father's Day!!! 3/3
I want to celebrate the fathers who wake up everyday & work hard to provide & protect their children. We are rarely celebrated & in a time where being a man is often dismissed as problematic or treated as a joke I want to thank every father for getting up & not giving up! 1/3
I can't help but think about the kids that woke up today without a dad, esp. the fathers taken by gun violence. I know both the pain of losing a family member to police violence and family from community violence. Few know this pain, but many seem to have an opinion about it. 2/3
I hope if you're able you can come out and support my friends at Future Portland & listen to my colleagues in public safety have a conversation about what's happening here in Portland, including threats to cut public safety budgets.
Wed, 4/23 5-7pm - I will see you there! π₯³ππΏ

I hope my fellow East Portland friends will join me at Councilor Smith's first town hall meeting this coming Saturday. This is your chance to ask your district representative questions and voice your concerns regarding East Portland specifically.

Shout out to my mama, my biggest ally & a huge reason I ran for office last year & won't stop fighting for my community. I am proud of the volunteer work she does for our homeless neighbors & my family.

The mayor and new City Council are facing a potential $100 million budget gap. Portland Police Association President Sgt. Aaron Schmautz returned to Eye on Northwest Politics to talk what the cuts could mean to the police bureau and for all Portlanders. https://t.co/yq9eWXQF7M
