@elonmusk Oh, you mean a conflict of interest like SpaceX getting fined for making airspace unsafe by the FAA and then Doge “coincidentally” making them first on the hit list as retaliation? That kind of conflict of interest? 🤫
@Christie_Whelan No solutions, but I think I recall that hiccups developed as a mechanism to strengthen babies breathing muscles prior to birth and that they have no real function post birth. A cute relic of your little man’s time in utero!
A sweet thought while you suffer, at least 😬
Just your annual reminder: Yes, I love my adoptive family. No, it's not anyone's business. Yes, my brother's fiancé, Edson, follows me here on X.
Speaking out about systemic & human rights issues in adoption has nothing to do with my current relationships.
Thanks.
@ProTruth4Life As a queer donor conceived person, I agree this is f’d. Embryos are not babies. But plenty of left wingers hate me just as much for pointing out that the fertility industry is a pink washing, capitalist and unethical dumpster fire and not a liberal panacea.
@theage what poorly researched journalism; even a cursory read of the transcript makes it clear that it was deeply political, targeting those who are critical of Israels crimes against Gaza including doxxing individuals. They should also be charged under the proposed law.
@CranburyDanser@NairYasmin@corsent Denying people access to identity and broader family is a breach of the UN Rights of the Child. FYI. Don’t claim to be progressive when you’re selectively deciding who has rights and who doesn’t.
@NairYasmin@corsent You can claim you’re a feminist all you like; denying information to adoptees is in breach of the UN Human Rights of the Child. Period. Rights are indivisible and inalienable. That a womans right to medical care are being breached does not make breaching adoptee rights ethical.
@corsent There’s got to be something pervasive at play - the same nonsense is said to donor conceived people. Or, inanely, that things are just so different for younger generations and therefore our experiences bear no useful resemblance. Such a view renders ANY lived experience useless
@drew_herzig@corsent Okay, so we must avoid talking about structures and institutions and the trends within them, because “not all”?
No need to address the inherent harms for adoptees, because talking of trends might hurt parents feelings. Some might consider that “marginalisation”!
@drew_herzig@corsent It’s not a leap to say the majority of adoptive parents only became adoptive parents due to infertility or circumstance (either not having a partner, or having a partner with whom they cannot reproduce with using both their gametes). Adoption is the ideal option for almost no one
@BobSmit54406315 Yes mate, Albo just wanted to impress his girlfriend with a referendum that had nothing to do with changing the date. It had nothing to do with the Uluru statement or indigenous Australians.
Someone give Rob a Nobel prize 😂
Hard to believe that it has already been 4 years since a group of wonderful donor-conceived and surrogacy born people spoke at the United Nations in Geneva for the 30th Anniversary of the UNCRC. An amazing experience. #DonorConceived#UNCRC
@PeterDutton_MP Hey look, someone made a cartoon of you. Well done on demanding that First Australians both “not be divisive” and also speak despite them saying they wish to be silent. Your political game playing is atrocious.
I am absolutely disgusted with Dutton, Ley & co as they continue to insult First Nations people with demeaning questions on possible next steps in reconciliation in #QT Continuing to use our most disadvantaged to look for political points is just morally bankrupt. #auspol
Advocating for access to reproductive rights for LGBTQ+ folks but not centering the lived experiences people who are #adoptees and #donorconceived ain’t progress. It’s just the same harmful bull that cishets created with rainbow branding. Stop.
