I replied to a post by @jon_d_doe about how his landlady receives VIP greetings whenever she enters the compound.

I casually mentioned that my own tenants greet me very well, too.

Why wouldn’t they?

I have not increased their rent for 7 years.

I for stop there ooo!
Then I added one small detail:

“I am planning to increase it this year by 150%.”

Omo!

The atmosphere changed immediately.

The comment section became the founding members of the National Tenants Welfare Association.

Everyone in the replies is defending my tenants.

Some were quoting economics.

Some were calculating inflation.

Some were praying for the tenants.

One person was practically preparing a court injunction. 😂😂😂

The funniest part?

My tenants were nowhere in sight.
Yet the whole of X had already assembled to fight for them.

I was scrolling through the replies, wondering:

“When exactly did all of you move into my building?”

The way they responded, you would think I personally increased fuel prices.

No be me increase cement.

No be me increase cost of building materials.

Yet na me collect. 😭

That was when I discovered a universal truth:

People are going through a lot in Nigeria, and they are becoming more empathetic toward one another, even toward people they do not know. It touched me.

@jon_d_doe I tried suicide once ,but my spirit and body is against it and I need to stop thinking negatively... I face hell from the government/ landlord ..lossing a kid and spent all savings ..
