I raised my kids in Burma and Nepal,
Where they could just be kids.
One glaring reality difference between the West and the East…..
People living out in the open, and kids playing until dark.
Reminds me of the “old days” in the USA, but now days……
The streets are always empty and the eyes scared.
My job’s actually the nicest thing about my life. I’m intellectually engaged, I make good money, I’m respected by everyone, & my superiors always reward my effort.
Then I leave & there’s just nothing. Nothing nice to look at or do. Maybe I end up eating something but that’s it.
@DanteJeffe14617@Empty_America Yeah work is kinda chill depending on what you’re doing. Feels nice getting things done, excelling, earning a solid living. What depresses me is the environment and life outside of work.
@philomemetic “Where are you?”
I live somewhere where this question doesn’t even matter. There’s nothing unique about the place I’m in. That’s the problem. This place looks and feels just like Arizona (where I grew up). Which looks and feels like everywhere else.

@Narte_punished@KinderheimRune It could also be that private actors are always lobbying for more unskilled, manual labor and since there’s at least 6 billion ppl who could qualify, the systems that be just pick based off who is suffering the most.
@jewndahalfmen Greeks used to a much bigger part of the world’s population at their peak.
They are 0.15% of the world’s population now but they used to be a solid 5% at their peak. That would be like having 400 million people right now, all located along the Mediterranean.
Zambians are wearing Air Force 1s, Chileans are saying "nigga" and "chud", Kazakhs are identifying as trans.
Americanization is whatever Hellenization back in the days of Alexander was, but times 1000.
In 2100, the world will be populated by 10 billion Americans.
