What a wonderful festive fun day, Year One! We’ve decorated icy biscuits, made our own tree decorations, enjoyed watching a pantomime and then had lots of fun playing party games this afternoon! 🌟 🎉 ❄️
We are making advent wreaths and learning about the 4 advent candles that Christian’s light in the run up to Christmas, plus the candle that represents Jesus that is lit on Christmas Day. Great work, Hazel Class!
We sorted true or false statements this week all about our class text, Room on the Broom. Then we corrected some of the false sentences on our whiteboards. You are all writing superstars! 🌟
We made story maps this week to help us to tell our new story, based on Room on the Broom. We told the story aloud as a class, in groups and with a partner to get to know the text. Great work, Hazel Class!
Some amazing shape work in maths today, looking at identifying and naming 2D and 3D shapes. We had a go at playing shape bingo as well as building different shapes with construction.
🪄 ✨ We’ve had a brilliant week planning and writing our own potion recipes. You are all working so hard, Hazel Class! Never mind turning me into a frog, these potion recipes have blown my socks off! 🪄 ✨
Today we talked about Remembrance Day and how some of us will be taking part in parades on Sunday. We learnt about why people wear poppies and then we had a go at crafting our own for a piece of artwork.
We had a great science lesson today learning about the human body. We played a game to practise where different parts of the body were and then we labelled pictures of the human body, using our phonics skills to help us spell.
We have had a brilliant morning exploring the Dark Plantation. We looked for signs of autumn, measured trees to see how old they were and found leaves in lots of different autumn colours. We were also superstars on the walk there and back! 🌟

We have learned about the three primary colours & are exploring what happens when we mix two primary colours together. We’re trying out chalks, oil pastels, pens, pencils and crayons!
We had a visitor to Hazel class today to talk to us all about baptism. We found out about three important symbols of baptism - ask us at home about the oil, water and candle and we will tell you all about them!
