Israel assassinated 25-year veteran journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in the West Bank on May 11, 2022. They shot her in the face. Shireen Abu Akleh was christian. She was an American citizen. Israel didn't care. To them, all that mattered was that Abu Akleh was Palestinian and that she told the stories of Palestinians in occupied Palestine.
At first the Israeli regime said Shireen was killed by Palestinian gunfire. When that story became implausible, Israel switched to "yes, the IDF shot her, but it was an accident". Another lie.
Israel has been killing journalists since long before Oct 2023. Reporters Without Borders documents 43 journalists killed by Israel between 2000 and 2023. 2 were European journalists. 263 journalists have been killed by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank since the start of the genocide.
In fact, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists, Israel has committed more targeted killings and been responsible for more journalists' deaths than any other government military since 1992, when they started keeping records.
For the Israeli regime, anyone who dares to report the truth of what has been happening on the ground in occupied Palestine is considered a legitimate target.
Free Palestine.
@berniehoe2 Me too. I started following this story in the summer time and it made me sick. Those trees have been there twice as long as this fucking country has existed.
@flrainh@Jommayo2323 Awe that was very kind and thoughtful of you . When my husband died I had a few people do this for me and it really meant a lot.
@BTudbubble@Tectomancer Most of the jails in the south don't have a/c. That in itself is friggin awful given how hot it gets here for a long stretch of the year.
@soopajx It's all so ridiculous. Pittsburgh prices are out of their tree. Where I live in FL used to be just as affordable as pgh once was,now people think I'm wealthy because I live in the area i do. No, I just got lucky that my landlord hasn't raised my rent since 2018. It's all so dumb
@ComRedSoda During days like today, my brain goes to "I need tramadol" or the like. That can be a slippery slope for me because I've been clean from heroin addiction for 10yrs again. I've had to take pain meds once for a necessary oral procedure, but that's it.
@SnowHimbo The building itself probably keeps it freezing and on the cell block laying on concrete with high humidity makes it feel cold and dank? Idk still doesn't make sense. Lol. That's just how I squared that in my mind.
