@frankiejhughes Great post. These that have experienced the loss of their club would understand. Clearly, some can’t grasp that. The continuity of any club has, and always will be, the fan base. Bury will climb back in time. Hopefully the next step will be on Saturday.

What can go wrong, probably will go wrong, and all down to the fact that there’s simply no plan “b.” We can argue the toss about home advantage going to the team that finished in the higher position all day long, but when it comes to the practicalities of the situation, the biggest game in NW Counties history will be played to a much smaller audience, with ticket allocation and segregation being a logistical nightmare.

Like I say, there should’ve been a plan “b,” because it’s hardly fair that what should be a huge pay day for all concerned, will eventually be reduced to an almost farcical financial conclusion. Policing & stewarding could potentially take any profit out of this game.

I know from Wythy’s perspective they deserve the home advantage, and I can fully understand why they wouldn’t want to give that up…they have every right to do the best for their club. But I strongly believe that it should never have been in their control in the first place.

For context. Wythy is a wonderful club ran by some great people and I have nothing against them, but I have a soft spot for Bury and sympathise for the nightmare season they’ve had to endure. And it’s for all those reasons above I wish them the very best of luck for Saturday. The sooner they are gracing the higher echelons of the football pyramid the better.
