Comparing your pain to someone else's doesn't make your trauma smaller.... it just makes it harder to heal.
Your pain deserves attention because it happened to you.
When did you first start shrinking your trauma by comparing it?
people laugh when I say PTSD/CPTSD can be healed
But I've seen people who
>been raped/gang raped
>seen loved ones suicide
>been beat bloody by parent/spouse
>made choices that got friends killed in war
fully heal
healing is possible, seen it too manytimes to believe otherwise
@Stephadactyl Recovery? It looks like a complete elimination of symptoms. That's the end goal...but while recovering (if that was your question), is a lot of pain! And growth...but also doubt and uncertainty...but determination to see it through, and to face any pain necessary to win
Healing trauma takes real energy, even when nobody can see you doing it.
Rest is part of the work, not a break from it.
What does recovery look like on your hardest days?
@mediumchallenge@_KaMgabhi The thing is that it requires consistent work, dedication, and commitment to see it through...and not let anyone or anything tell you 'no' or that 'it's not possible'
@mediumchallenge@_KaMgabhi It's 100% possible, it's very painful in the short term because you have to process the worst things that you've gone through....but in the long term that short term pain of processing is worth it a million times over because it's gone for good.
Avoidance keeps your nervous system from reliving the danger.... it's PTSD protection that made sense once.
As you heal, the list of places you can't go gets shorter.
What place or person do you still steer around without thinking?
