Worried about someone but scared to ask?
Talking about suicide can feel difficult, but asking directly won’t make things worse. It can open up a conversation and help someone share how they’re really feeling.
You don’t need all the answers. Sometimes, asking is the first step.

The Baton of Hope gives us all a very visible way of saying that suicide prevention matters, and that no one should be afraid to talk about it.
Further details about the Birmingham route and events for the 2027 Baton of Hope tour will be announced in due course.
Birmingham will once again become a focal point for suicide prevention with the return of @TheBatonofHope in 2027.
The Baton of Hope, a symbol of suicide prevention, previously came to Birmingham in 2023, bringing people together to share a powerful message of hope and support.
Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and behind every statistic is a family, a friendship group, a workplace and community left dealing with the consequences.
Birmingham is looking forward to welcoming the Baton of Hope in 2027 and supporting this important message of hope, connection and suicide prevention. 💙
Good luck to everyone receiving their GCSE results today!
