UGMC and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust successfully completed their annual "Hearts of Ghana" collaborative cardiac surgery project on Friday, 3rd October.

Partnering with @Cardio_Start, our @HeartsofGhana international mission team is on the ground in Accra, Ghana and working with the Ghana team to perform complex cardiovascular surgeries. They will spend the week there helping to upskill the surgical team and nursing staff.

Young man needed a new aortic valve and a VSD closure. However, during the pre op testing a CHD was found affecting the carotid artery. The team is now figuring out the next steps.
