he's the only artist i know of who actually delivers the level of authenticity i want from period pieces lol. not because accuracy in itself = good movie, but because i can tell rigorous research is a creative process for him that gives life to his ideas. i really relate to that
Robert Eggers on why his film Werwulf is set in 1300:
"I learned that basically because of protections for the wool trade, there was a big effort to get rid of all the wolves in England. It was pretty successful. So the movie takes place around 1300, and thatβs as late as it could be because once there were no wolves in England, there was no more werewolf lore in England. That became interesting, that it was going to be set so medieval."
