For anyone who thinks Burnham could possibly be erring on the lightweight side, here comes the ridiculous Esther McVey to make him look like Bertrand Russell.
Today’s the 1st day since start of ❄️ that the #MVHR bypass has opened (cos the house was already above 21° due to the plentiful ☀️). So cool how in most weather from now till next winter it’ll just modulate how open the bypass is and effortlessly keep the 🏠 between 20 and 22°.
#MVHR we commissioned is drawing in fresh air at 27 DegC (hot) & using the home's outgoing waste air to cool it to 23.5 DegC. It's a summer COOL exchanger rather than HEAT exchanger. Only energy usage are the MVHR fans (27W). No active cooling: all passive #newbuild#overheating
We have finally got our MVHR up and running! Here is Patrick from @HeatSpaceLight (who has done a brilliant job designing, supplying and now commissioning the system) balancing the vents. Looking forward to seeing how it performs!
More #CCS bunkum being greenwashed as a climate solution. Pumping millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide under the sea is just sweeping the problem under the carpet. Focusing on unproven CCS is stifling innovation and diverting investment from real solutions to electrify industry.
Very strong heat recovery performance from one of our recently-installed #MVHR systems.
Cold outdoor air is entering at 1.5 DegC & being heated passively by the outgoing waste air up to 18 DegC.
All passive & using only 30W of fan power (about half a #kWh per day).
Researchers just found that gas stoves are responsible for 12.7% of childhood asthma cases.
Recently I read dozens of studies about gas stoves and indoor air quality.
I also installed monitors in our home and ran my own tests.
Here's what I learned.
I can appreciate homely feeling that wood-burning stoves give, but if good indoor/outdoor air quality, cheaper bills & comfort are higher priorities, stoves in modern homes have no place as they lower air quality, cost too much to clean & run & lower heating energy efficiency...
I've seen some motivated reasoning in my time, but the attempts at self-justification on Twitter in response to this article are off the scale.
We should follow the evidence wherever it leads, and however uncomfortable it gets.

+++BREAKING+++
TONIGHT #WeSmellGas disrupted #EUHydrogenWeek to demand the EU & their fossil energy partners #StopGreenwashingDirtyHydrogen.
97% of Europe’s hydrogen is made using fossil fuels. We need actual renewables, a fossil-free politics
Poppycock.
Analysis of more than 30 studies found that generating electricity from renewable sources, using it to make hydrogen, then burning the hydrogen to heat homes uses more energy than just using the electricity to power a heat pump.
The fossil fuel industry is lobbying the government about hydrogen because gas firms are desperate for an alternative income source and a way to turn their existing resources and infrastructure into supposedly low carbon solutions. And the government is swallowing the #Greenwash.
We've been leafleting around Whitby in Ellesmere Port today. The area is in line for the @HyNetNW and @CadentGasLtd proposed #HydrogenVillage, so we're giving local residents the facts to counter the fossil fuel industry #Greenwash.
Heating homes with #Hydrogen is nonsensical.
@SarahASLewis @Zehnder_UK Hi Sarah, this is great data, thanks for sharing. With Zehnder another neat trick is: MENU>STATUS>ENERGY>POWER CONSUMPTION and it'll show real-time fan electrical usage, and year-to-date energy usage. On our projects we've seen as little as 36W for a 200m2 home. Hyper efficient.
As a designer and commissioning technician for Zehnder MVHR systems this occupancy data showing health, indoor air, humidity and energy-saving improvements due to MVHR is immensely encouraging.

Clarification: BLUE hydrogen-powered furnace.
"There really is no role for blue hydrogen in a carbon free future. Blue hydrogen is best viewed as a distraction, something that may delay needed action to truly decarbonise the global energy economy."

@RupertCook @YouTube Thanks, Rupert. Good quality ventilation such as #MVHR (properly installed and commissioned) is key to making UK building stock more comfortable, healthy and energy efficient.
Forensic #airtightness pressure test of this #newbuildhome back in May found air leaks in fabric that gave it a 6.4 Air Permeability at 50Pa. Recommended remedial actions, now the property
