@ScooterMcNeice The commentary was unbearable to listen to but it’s understandable that they would use cheap local commentary rather than fly an unbiased team over to Tassie for it. It’s up to those doing the commentary to show some integrity and tofind a way to be balanced.
World football should be embarrassed and outraged that the game of the world, that everyone plays in all corners of the planet, has been used to promote a human rights abuser, currently extrajudicially killing Venezuelans, who play our game.
Locking up immigrants and vilifying all manner of cultures and faiths, who play our game.
Funding and arming genocide in Palestine, who play our game.
This award further stains the reputation of Infantino, FIFA, and places football as an enabler of Trump’s attacks on international law, multilateral systems, on justice, and accountability.
Football once stopped wars, today, it promotes the worst crimes against humanity.
It’s a shameful day for the beautiful game.
@Craig_Foster Absolutely mate. I’ve been saying this myself in no uncertain terms. Disgusting. The World Cup ‘26 should be boycotted. I’m not kidding. It would send the right, and compassionate, message.
@rustyrockets Too much baggage attached to that symbol and an unwillingness to address the institutional hypocrisy, discrimination, violence, and obstruction of progressive values. Perhaps it’s the Heathen Christ you seek 😬
Any way of knowing if this photo is still archived? It was mentioned in the recent HS special on the greatest marks of all time but had no photo to accompany it which was a shame.
