I hard agree with Momo here. Most of the “big” VTubers are showing their true colors here, corporate bootlickers who’d rather lick the boots of a troll than defend the space that made them rich.

Peanut didn’t “win” anything. He griefed an award, his chat called every VTuber a pedo for half a year, and when he finally cashed the trophy he said on stream “I’m not a fucking VTuber, this is hilarious.” Where's the respect?!?! That’s a public execution of your entire medium while the top talents clap and say “uwu so wholesome, don’t be salty guys.”

Ironmouse and the rest aren’t “taking the high road.” They’re paid to be walking PR statements, and controversy hurts the bag. So they throw indies and small corpos under the bus to keep the normies and sponsors happy. This wasn’t a prank, it was a raid. Dude brought his entire 12 year old horde in, they shat on the category, shat on the fans, shat on the talents, and walked out with the prize. And the response from the people with actual power in the space is “heehee just be happy for him.” Nah. If you let someone walk into your house, piss on the floor, and steal your shit while you smile and say “no negativity pls,” you don’t have a house anymore. You have a public toilet.

VTubing is already on thin fucking ice with the mainstream. Letting this slide just proved every stereotype they already believed, that it’s all fake, cringe, and not worth respecting. Congrats, you just handed the ammo to every future troll who wants to farm clips by ratioing the younger indies into quitting. 💀

I’m probably going to get heat on this but I prefer speaking my mind and not just repeating whatever others say.

I don’t care if Peanut is a vtuber or not. It probably depends a lot on whether he wants to be considered one or not.

A lot of non-vtuber fans used this awards to mock vtubers and call you all pedophiles and 40 y.o weirdos impersonating little girls.

And somehow some of the influential vtubers of the community are like “Ew, why are you upset, he is a vtuber”

You simplify whats going in and treat your peers and colleagues as if we would be jealous when we honestly couldn’t have cared at all who won as long as our jobs and hobbies would have been respected.

Like I understand having to look good to the general public but at least don’t shit on your own fans and peers.
