Phillips says if Israel were to cease to exist, "America would be undefended in the Middle East." But America is not in the Middle East, and doesn't need to be "defended" halfway around the world, that's called imperialism.
"America depends on Israel to defend itself!"
Melanie Phillips ties herself into knots trying to insist that America isn't fighting Iran for Israel.
Remarkable mental gymnastics on display here.
We absolutely should minimize our AC use (I set my thermostat to 27°) but when it's so hot that you can't sleep, there is nothing wrong with doing what's necessary, especially when it's a drop in the bucket compared to the real culprits.
80 yıl boyunca her yıl 120 gün ve günde 24 saat 12.000 btu bir klimayı çalıştırırsanız ömrünüz boyunca doğaya yaptığınız co2 salınımı 100 ton olacaktır.
bir süperyat haftada 109 ton
bir özel jet yılda 810 ton
co2 salınımı yapar.
yani ömrünüz boyunca yazları terleyerek geçirirken bir milyardar sadece bir haftada sizin ömrünüz boyunca kaçındığınız zararı doğaya verebiliyor.
@RZDIND@InshallahVato@LevineJonathan On the left, you have a man in power being yelled at. On the left, you have a girl with no power being yelled at. These are not the same.
John Pilger challenging former CIA Latin America Station Chief Duane Clarridge on the CIA-backed Pinochet coup against Salvador Allende (born on this day in 1908):
Pilger: Salvador Allende was democratically elected. Is that okay to overthrow a democratically elected government?
Clarridge: ‘It depends what your national security interests are.’
Pilger: ‘Are you denying the huge suffering Pinochet caused in that country?’
Clarridge: ‘Huge? I don’t buy it. He committed crimes, I agree.’
Pilger: ‘Those crimes are worth it?’
Clarridge: ‘Yeah.’
Pilger: ‘What right do you have to do what you do in other countries’
Clarridge: ‘National security interests.’
Pilger: ‘The people you do it to have no say.’
Clarridge: ‘Well that’s just tough…and if you don’t like it, lump it.’
Remember this exchange whenever you hear the US government talking about defending democracy in Latin America, or anywhere around the world.
@Reil76 There are many areas that aren't so cut and dry. Take healthcare for example, the federal government is responsible for much of the funding, and can set national standards. It's mainly the provinces screwing things up, but the feds bear some responsibility.
The No. 7 Ottawa deserves! 😤

@BoCampbell18@dieworkwear Most people will agree that antisemitism should be taken seriously. The problem is when that extends to legitimate criticism of the Israeli government. Wanting equal rights for Palestinians and an end to war crimes being committed against them isn't antisemitism.
@BronzeHistorian@JesseBrown You'd think if the goal was to target the Jewish community, he would have gone to an area that's more Jewish rather than the block with Aylo.
@Cami13428@TheGrayzoneNews Different incidents. You might not have heard about it because nobody was injured because every shooting conveniently is always after hours with nobody there.

@Ag8912_@TheGrayzoneNews@propandco Not the Montréal shooting yesterday, shootings after hours at restaurants, gyms, the US Consulate, as well as synagogues. Nobody is ever injured. They're trying to blame Iran of course.

@Not_Gilmore I think people who didn't grasp anything after learning French for 5+ years might be a little stupid, especially considering how much of English comes from French. You don't need to be fluent, you don't need to be able to conjugate well, but you should know a few words.
@Harlemundo110@CanadaSentinel@GadSaad The only person the gunman killed was a police officer named Mohamed Lamine Benredouane. Mizrahi was a bystander who was accidentally shot by another officer.
@jewish_uk@MaxBlumenthal One of the victims, a bystander who was shot by the police, was Jewish. The other victim, who was shot by the gunman, is police officer Mohamed Lamine Benredouane. Doesn't really fit the constructed narrative, does it?
@kimmy_272727@RealLeafPJ@Road_Guy_Colin People in Toronto don't hate people in other Canadian cities, but people in Vancouver have been insulting Toronto over the World Cup. Why can't we just be happy together?
