Big on living organ donation. OPTN Board. Past Living Donor Comm Chair. Liver donor. Lawyer. Electricity is my work. Moonlight, for free, on zoning matters.
@NextStepHC Paint and decor lovely. Recommend reading state and federal documents about patient care to get the story paint and decor do not tell. Read reports on Propublica too.
Our 1st #MothersDay2023 without our mom. Miss her. At #livingdonor transplant, remember the hardest seat in the house is often the waiting parent - siblings are the most common living donors per @UNOSNews. My mom worried “they’d get it out but not get it in”. Honor them all.

Amazing! “…the sixth ASCI inductee at the School of Medicine in 50 years, the second in 20 years, and the second woman in 31 years…” 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 @KristaLentine
As a non-medical professional member of the @UNOSNews Board, I’ve found Maureen remarkably refreshing. Deep experience + fresh eyes + really open ears + new thinking about processes + embracing of discomfort that leads to progress + focused on facts, communications. 🍀 #SaveMore
After a national search, Dr. Maureen McBride was named as the new UNOS CEO. “As long as there are patients in desperate need of organs, we have more work ahead of us,” said McBride. Read the full announcement below. #DonateLife#TransplantTwitter https://t.co/G6fTMEHBRm
🙌 to @MedicareGov, @MassDPH for not rating, upping inspections @NextStepHC S Dennis, which fails patients. No ready access to H2O. No soap in bathrooms. Sleep aids w/o an ok. Fail list = longer. Transparency = accountability. More work to do on nursing homes #mapoli#medicare
Today is our 9th Liver-versary. 2 sisters/1 #liver! 🎉 💖 💃 So happens my Texas sister spent it on Cape Cod with me making our 91 yr old Mom super happy. Giving gets paid forward, every time. That’s all I know for sure. Thx @BaylorTxpDFW#livingdonation#organdonation
On the eve of the 9th anniversary of my living liver-sary with my sister, extra grateful for the #livingdonor professionals dedicated to making more of the right living #liver donations happen, and including patients. Please read/share. https://t.co/zc25EB758D @KristaLentine
@MassGovernor@Fairbrother_J@MassHHS I just read years of patient complaints on file w/ @masshhs about @NextStepHC in South Dennis. Pls make solving that ongoing pattern of horrific patient experience a priority. Those MA patients need help now, system reform, and integrity in advertising.
In this survey study, 78% of participants reported that their transplant center provided education to identify potential living organ donors via social media and 62% of participants reported that they received referrals via social media.
Shared long-term living donor outcome data progress, Finally! Follows 2003 @UNOSNews OPTN Board position:
“Long-term follow-up of living donors is essential to define the risks and benefits of living donation in order to protect donors and facilitate accurate informed consent”3/3
A privilege (emotional one) to speak on Modernizing Living Donor Policy @BaylorTxpDFW#LivingDonor Symposium. Emphasis: long-term outcome data needs. Fav thing: Dr. Testa telling room of diverse professionals all voices matter. Grateful thing: sister/recipient with me. 1/3
Shared awesome @SRTRNews transplant system map with Living Donor points in process spotlit. Important overlay - when should patients hear about living donation? 1st time talking organ failure. 2/3
It’s the 9th birthday made possible for her by living organ transplantation and every single one of you #transplant professionals should know patients are grateful to you 365 days a year, year over year, for the miracle-making you call your job. #gratitude
Big #livingdonor ask from @SRTRNews Transplant Metrics/Task 5 conf? Give us long term outcome data. Dots ⬇️ = Priority. 2 patient sessions said unanimously every center must join Living Donor Collective. Let’s unload the burden from centers & make it happen for donors #SRTRCC22
Bravo to @SRTRNews for patient focus at Transplant Metrics/Task 5 Conf.
Q1: what info matters to patients? Then more big work: making it accessible, understandable. It’s a must to reduce disparities. So ❤️’ing to hear SRTR commitment to that. #SRTRCC22
What are the right metrics for our transplant system? Day 1 observations from @SRTRNews conference: 1) Mutual gratitude between patients & professionals abounds 2) Gotta risk adjust - no disagreement 3) Right metrics 1 thing, making patient friendly another. #SRTRCC22 on track.
