@alitlstrawberry As someone who had to leave med school due to health problems unfortunately this doesn’t surprise me. Doctors/med students are some of the most ableist people I’ve ever come across-both when I was a student and as a patient.
@BillieJeanKing@AlexZverev He also beats women. To see you holding yourself up as a feminist and the work you have done for the pwhl recently, it’s incredibly disappointing to see you prop up a man like this. His disability doesn’t erase his bad behavior.
@hanlemc@onlysleeping27@hfkzelda If someone is younger or it’s a new diagnosis that they aren’t comfortable with, then this puts them in a tough spot. Not everyone is comfortable essentially disclosing small bits of their medical information to those around them.
@hanlemc@onlysleeping27@hfkzelda A problem for me(someone who is too sick to attend any concert)is that these accommodations draw more attention to disabled people who may not be comfortable with their disability being visible. People have been making fun of the idea that anyone would need a phone for any reason
@onlysleeping27@hfkzelda And the argument that “phones didn’t exist like this 15 years ago.” Absolutely. But also, that simply meant that many disabled people weren’t able to take part in the community in the same way that they are now. Taking away phones is essentially removing a main accessibility tool
@onlysleeping27@hfkzelda If asking in good faith-I monitor my heart rate and if it goes above or below certain levels, then I have to take different meds to keep it at a safe level. There are also diabetics who monitor blood sugar this way. Many such apps exist to help functionality and lower ER trips
@dianelyssa For many people a doctor’s note would require an appointment (and the payment associated with it). Going to a concert shouldn’t require having to pay for a doctor’s visit and people not understanding that is incredibly ableist. While easy, it shouldn’t be necessary
@kaz_ghafa As a disabled person who can’t attend concerts due to the severity of my disability, live-streams of concerts have been the only way I’ve been able to see any shows for the last 6+ years. Disappointed that I won’t see anything until an official video(but that feels different)
So either a r*pist goalie and his POS enabler buddy get the cup or it goes to the team that tried to sign the main perpetrator and has another one of the 5 signed on their affiliate team... don't ever fucking tell me that allegations ruin men's lives again.
Yall saying the Andes strain patients not quarantining should be charged with attempted murder as if yall havent been disabling and killing millions by letting covid rip through the population unchecked because you, for some reason, trusted the government when they said its over
Healthcare providers calling disabiling conditions over-diagnosed or misdiagnosed without any data to back up their claims is exactly why it takes years for so many people to receive proper care or treatment.
Over-diagnosis / misdiagnosis / self-diagnosis of EDS, MCAS, POTS, & Lyme is a real problem, and it would appear that there is little appetite by medical professionals to discuss this issue publicly.
@girlsclubsports Wish I could be there too, but unfortunately those men all showed their blatant misogyny and hate yesterday by laughing at the women’s hockey team with the president while drinking with the fbi director who is protecting horrible people.
The Trump administration removed a Pride flag at the NYC monument honoring the Stonewall uprising, a key turning point for LGBT rights in America https://t.co/NpJThB7MYm
@NYCMayor Let’s make sure to differentiate between masks that are often used by those who need to protect their health and the face converings/gaiters used by these agents to hide their identities.
