It was pattern bracelet making day! We talked about many different pattern cores and then students created their own pattern bracelets. It was great to hear students describe their patterns and see their excitement to wear their bracelets home.@HeatherVanacker @shcslangton

In Math today we worked together to sort a big group of buttons by colour. We discovered that we could also sort them by size, shape and the number of holes. Great teamwork everyone! @shcslangton @HeatherVanacker

As part of our apple inquiry we taste tested two kinds of apples and then took a survey to find out which one was more popular. The sweet Gala was liked by more students than the sour Granny Smith. @shcslangton @HeatherVanacker

Our class enjoyed a probability experiment today that we called “Reach in the Bag” There were 10 tiles in the bag in 4 possible colours. After students closed their eyes to pull out a tile they coloured a box on the ten frame to keep track of the results. @shcslangton

We played a fun coin tossing game today in Math. We tossed a coin 10 times with a partner and kept track of how many heads and tails we got. This is just the beginning of a conversation we will be having with the class about probability. @shcslangton

Easter Egg Addition in Math today. Pick an egg, build the addition fact on your rekenrek, and then find the sum. Great work everyone! @shcslangton

An interesting survey in Math today as part of our reptile inquiry. It was great to hear some of the reasons why our friends would want a certain reptile. Having someone to swim with in their pool was a popular answer. @shcslangton

Mr Acres came in during free exploration to help some of our friends build a very tall tower. Only Mr Acres can build one that tall! @shcslangton

Graphing and naming coins today as a way to discover more about money. @shcslangton

A game in Math to develop our understanding of number pairs. Build a tower of ten, break it apart behind your back and show your partner what is in one hand only. Your partner has to guess how many are still hiding behind your back by thinking of the number pairs that make 10.
