The first time WVU wore the Baby Blue logo was the 1964 Liberty Bowl against none other than, Utah.
This was the first ever indoor football game, artificial turf wasn’t invented yet so the field consisted of 4 inches of dirt on top of concrete.
They were worn throughout the 1965 season which resulted in the highest scoring Backyard Brawl ever. A 63-48 win over Pitt.
The blue color originated from the original Star City Bridge, built in 1950.
