This entire thread just makes me think about how every prayer book or other religious text I've seen in Judaism has footnotes and/or directly cites translation choices and interpretations, often providing multiple
Never saw it in Christianity
My hot take is that translating the Bible to change the text to make it seem more gender egalitarian, lgbt-affirming, etc than it actually is actually a Bad Thing.
The text says what the text says and pretending it's something other than it is doesn't help anyone.
@ThisIsBGM Ok I can see how it came off that way tbh but that's not how I meant it
I literally mean it from a difference standpoint as in this debate is different in both religions and my experiences woth it in both have been different
@ThisIsBGM I mean referencing the literal library's worth of rabbinical texts covering interpretations and debates over verses over time
Judaism isn't just the Torah
Also many of those texts haven't been translated into English yet, I'm not even talking about that lol
@ThisIsBGM Judaism has questioning as a fundamental part of their rituals and practice while Christianity doesn't as much. Not a diss on either religion, just a difference.
there's no way you think Judaism and Christianity emphasize questioning, interpretation, and citation the same
@ThisIsBGM Note how I used the words "in my experience"
Of course not all Christians think the Bible is the word of G-d and of course some Jewish people do. No shit.
The difference is that EVERY religious text I see in Judaism has this and VERY FEW of the ones I see in Christianity do
Transmen can definitely be just as misogynistic as cis men just like how cis women or anyone else can be just as misogynistic as cis men.
Also transmen can def get Pick Me points with cis men for being misogynistic.
That's literally the problem
@TheAntifaTurtle I have def seen transmen have misogyny on the level of cis men, especially earlier in the process, literally anyone can be extremely misogynistic
@ThisIsBGM Like for many Christians the Bible is the Word of G-d (hence why there's not as much emphasis on questioning it, more so interpretation) and that isn't as common in Judaism imo
The Talmud also says what is says and there are definitely more than two ways to experience biological sex and gender alignments with a lot of name changes happening after on biological changes
