A plant gall on a Stinging Nettle stem, spotted on Dartmoor last week. This gall is apparently very common (first time I've seen one!) and can appear on stem, leaf stalk, leaf, or flowers. It is caused by a fungus "nettle rust", or "nettle clustercup rust". #fungi#plants

I love the ability of #fungi to surprise me. I’d more or less given up on autumn mushrooms in SW Scotland for this year, then boom! A lovely cauliflower mushroom right when & where I wasn’t expecting it. Slightly soggy, but it will dry up nicely.

Wonderful aroma of Wood Blewits in the kitchen - floral, perfume-like or "frozen orange juice". We blogged on them a week or two ago - https://t.co/iLXSqcGbSl #fungi#foraging
