The Great Brontosaurus Hoax was a 1919 incident where a pair of sightings of a large, dinosaur like creature were reported in Africa. The hoax was exposed as a fake story from a hunter. It was also inaccurately labeled a brontosaur despite being described more like a triceratops

One of my favorite things to read about, in fantasy or otherwise. Is seeing now extinct creatures from our world, still existing in another. If done correctly, it can seriously enhance any story.
