@WilliamMcCall_ I didn’t have crazy expectations for year 1 but this whole thing has felt like hitting every single red light driving down the freeway. Just gets more and more frustrating and a lot of things show that this program has fallen more than most would like to acknowledge

@UNCSportsTalk I actually think other bigs going back to school ahead of him probably made his decision much harder. Even if marginal it’s hard to argue it doesn’t help his stock especially when he’s right on the bubble of the first round

@carolinamets I think if he declares then he’s not coming back. I’m not positive maybe he can still enter the portal since there was a coaching change but if he doesn’t enter the portal and declares then he’s done w school. Even if he gives verbal assurance hes back, can’t bank on it as Malone

@bornhatinduke @CalebWilson2025 Pacers are far and away the best spot he could go. Based on fit alone but also they are already a playoff team with a healthy Haliburton. Add Wilson and they could be a real threat even in his rookie year

@bornhatinduke Potentially starting at the 4 but playing less overall mpg than Jarin. Jarin doesn’t seem to care whether he is “starting” as long as he’s getting deserved minutes and helping the team. Miika is a project which I think Malone is the best suited to develop him given his exp in DEN

@UNCballTalk Doesn’t move me at all. Really haven’t liked the job they’ve done so far this offseason. A lot of swing and misses in the portal. Coach quits. Haven’t been able to close out top targets yet. Top targets still aren’t needle movers realistically. Probably won’t close on the Juke

@heelsdynasty Unfortunately that lineup is worse than this years and there is a substantial gap at that if this years team is healthy. If this is all we end up with then I’d say the offseason could not have gone any worse outside of waiting for Billy D and him not coming.

@carolinamets I don’t know. The longer things take to materialize the more I find myself thinking it’s another offseason where Tanner and co hasn’t had a gameplan. At this point he’s likely testing waters anyway so you need to recruit as if he’s gone. If he was coming back it’d be announced

@UNCballTalk At this point I believe 2/2 is a must. No Knox no haralson. Have to land those two and miikka or the wheels will be off and we’ll be watching a Hubert portal run

@WilliamMcCall_ If we don’t get at least 3/5 on Juke, Brown, Miikka, Knox, haralson then I will be pretty alarmed. Obviously he came in the day before the portal opened and hasn’t coached a game for the Heels so maybe wouldn’t be completely telling but it wouldn’t be good

@MadJohnston27 @Jayy_Hardyy252 Yeah I just personally don’t see a guy who avg 20ppg in the Big 12 agreeing to go be a non starter when they could probably get the same money at another power conf school and get 34 mpg but I guess that comes down to player motivations

Only one of the retained staff was hired by Hubert but previously served as an assistant to Bill Guthridge
