Random Game 7 thoughts:

- Wemby is one of the best “get the fuck out of here…” watches in professional sports. “Alien” doesn’t even begin to describe it. A few too many foul baits these last few games but he probably did 5 things last night that made me almost spit my beer out. What the fuck are we watching?

- despite all of the criticism, myself included, SGA was downright fucking sensational last night. The flopping comments are warranted, but if you’re gonna call it out, you better also acknowledge when he’s ON. He was on last night and it was the most I’ve ever enjoyed watching him play

- no one on planet earth has increased their net worth more than Julian Champagnie over the last month. Out of nowhere he’s one of the best 3 & D wings in the league and clearly isn’t afraid of the moment. It felt like he drained a 3 every single time the Thunder built momentum. Thank god we cut him for Mac McClung

- I have no “star player” comparison for Stephon Castle but his box scores will never do justice to his overall game impact. He’s so fucking good

- what Dylan Harper just did in games 6 & 7 as 20 year old is downright absurd. I already think there’s an argument for him over Flagg in a redraft, and that’s saying something considering I might be even higher on Flagg than most

- McCain being a key part of a conference finals game 7 is the most Philly thing ever. I will say….. his shotmaking is incredible, but he’s still a total traffic cone on defense and his net impact is probably a lot worse than people give him credit for. Still… that trade continues to look awful

- in a 7 game serious featuring the most talented player of our lifetimes & the reigning back to back MVP, the single most impactful play of the series (and maybe the entire NBA season), was made by Luke Kornet

- and I guess I’ll pile on Chet with everyone else but my god man…. Is it an overreaction to compare this performance to Ben Simmons vs the Hawks? I can’t remember an all-NBA player wilting THIS bad for an entire playoff series. He’s still a kid & I’m willing to believe he’ll grow from this, but we watched Wemby literally steal his soul like a fucking dementor on national television

The regular season is still a problem, there’s still too many blowouts, but “good” NBA playoff games are some of the best entertainment in professional sports
