So excited to see @CRbuildpeace's new report on mental health and gender in the Central African Republic 🇨🇫 Gender plays a key role in how young people experience mental distress. MHPSS and peacebuilding programmes need to better reflect this. The report shows how it can be done.
How are #gender, #mentalhealth & #peacebuilding connected? We spoke with people in Central African Republic to understand the gendered barriers preventing young people from accessing #MHPSS and impeding healing & reconciliation. Here’s what we learned 🧵👇
Our team in Bangui is leading really interesting work on masculinities, gender and mental health. Last week @CRbuildpeace Gender and Central African Republic teams carried out a gendered conflict analysis and developed a programme level gender strategy for the team.
Really enjoyed this morning's discussion in Bangui on mental health and peacebuilding in CAR. Many powerful testimonies from health professionals, peacebuilders, government representatives and international partners, illustrating the need to pay attention to spiritual beliefs.
Fascinating discussions in #Bangui today on the interaction between mental health, spiritual beliefs and peacebuilding in the Central African Republic, based on our latest research with @DanChurchAid funded by @UNPeacebuilding

Powerful link up with @JeffersonBosela cousin of #chriskaba who is spearheading the #justiceforchriskaba campaign. An incredible young man. Listening to what the family has gone through is heartbreaking but also hearing Jefferson’s hope for justice is inspiring. Praying you up🙏🏾

Unaddressed and widespread mental health damage and pervasive spiritual influences need to be covered in any conflict analysis. Very interesting research on CAR by @CRbuildpeace@HeinzelLisa
The findings of the research are summarised in a report which is now available in English and French on @CRbuildpeace’s website: https://t.co/RIazHZpqe8 (9/9)
