So I did a little analysis of intraday volume anomaly, a classic in quant trading when applied to trading volume, here Reddit posting volume.

The window is 11 Oct 2026, 01:00–12:00 UTC. The political list contributes 147 communities. The control group is the other non-political 825 channels. So this is a clean A/B test on the same website at the same time, to check if political channels are more affected than others.

After all, Reddit could have experienced a tech issue at the same time ? That is why you do A/B testing.

But nope, when that Russian botfarm went in flames, r/democraticparty postings suddenly went down 71% while the US non-political channels were up +4%.

r/mississippi, r/rhodeisland and r/illinois posting volume collapsed too, pretty much the same pattern as the European country subreddits.

@jaanus My best guess here: The platforms where the people got their talking points from is damaged. The amount of bad faith replies is signifcantly down. Topics like Musk, Ukraine, MAGA and AfD usually draw a lot of engagement of the bad kind.
