@HysteroscopyA @TVNaga01 I fit over 200 coils a year. If everyone who wants a coil was offered spinal anaesthesia or GA the waiting list would literally be years long and this would lead to many unwanted pregnancies. It would also cost millions and be unnecessary in the vast majority of cases.

@HysteroscopyA @TVNaga01 It is not some people who tolerate it. It is most. Cervical dilation is rarely required but when it is, I agree a referral to gynaecology may be required.

@ElaineFalkner @TVNaga01 I am certainly not and neither are any coil fitters that I am aware of. I would always stop a procedure if a patient was in severe pain, even if they asked me to continue.

Some patients are referred to gynaecology for this. I would hate for anyone considering a coil to imagine that the procedure will be horrendously painfu
