ILRAJ issues new position paper addressing Issues Relating to School Safety in Sierra Leone

The safety of children in #SierraLeone's schools is in crisis. In our latest position paper, @ILRAJ examines two recent tragedies—the heartbreaking death of 8-year-old Khadija Jalloh and the suffocation of two children at the National Pentecostal School in #Freetown—that have exposed serious gaps in school oversight, security, and accountability.

Our report identifies critical failures in teacher vetting, school supervision, and child protection, and sets out clear and actionable recommendations to the Government of Sierra Leone, including:

✅ Mandatory background checks for all school proprietors and educators
✅ Enforced fencing and security personnel for school compounds
✅ Confidential reporting systems and swift legal action against perpetrators
✅ Parent engagement and regular school inspections

🔍 Read the full paper and join us in calling for urgent reforms to make our schools safe learning environments for every child.
