Where specialist palliative care is not offered, death is part of the social/spiritual experience of life. But so are uncontrolled symptoms. Neither is ideal. Combined approaches needed. @HelenMalo3@hospiceuk @_KateForbes @Palliative_Scot@jenni_minto
Concerning report from @AuditorGenScot . I'm struck by the contributions that a focus on end of life care can make on key challenges listed: unscheduled care, delayed discharge, acute capacity and care closer to home. 1 in 3 hospital beds are people in the last year of life.

Good to hear the near universal support of MPs for the need to improve palliative care, regardless of their positions on #AssistedDyingBill. Let's hope they sustain their interest and use their positions of power, privilege and influence to deliver real change, especially ££.
Really wonderful talks yesterday on rural palliative care including personal experiences. Very moving. Great that this important subject is being highlighted at #HospiceUKConf@HelenMalo3@annasutherlan15
Today our team calculated the financial impact of the budget , and it adds an additional £250k of financial pressure. I sincerely hope that the additional funds coming to Scotland are used wisely to assist Scottish hospices with this longstanding underfunding.
@PPWHospice
Hospices face extraordinary costs pressures employing their doctors and nurses (pay awards & NI) with no extra help to date. The Scottish Government is receiving significantly more money from #Budget24. Fair funding for Scottish hospices is essential, justified & possible.
Thank you to @rachaelmaskell MP for raising the importance of access to high quality palliative and end of life care, in today's Prime Minister’s Questions.

Dr Narmadha Kali Vanan and one of our advanced clinical nurse specialists, Monica, had a great time attending the @hospiceuk event in Scottish Parliament today😊 Here's to positive change within palliative care🤞🏻💜 #HospiceCareWeek
Can't believe we've got to this point - hospice staff losing jobs & patients missing out on vital care because of a lack of funding. And it will only add to the pressure on the NHS.
