MP for North Shropshire and @LibDems Spokesperson for Health and Social Care. Promoted by North Shropshire Lib Dems at Flat B, The Fighting Cocks, SY11 1QE.
This is desperately sad news, and my heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives today.
I am always left in awe by the bravery of our service men and women who put their lives on the line for all of our safety.
My prayers are with the loved ones of the Royal Navy personnel who tragically died in this awful accident.
They were serving their country in work that is dangerous, demanding and brave. Their loss is a painful reminder of just how much we ask of those who serve.
This additional screening is because black men have a much higher risk of prostate cancer than white men or men of Asian origin.
Any man who is worried about prostate cancer can speak to their GP about a test.
Corrected that for you @ZiaYusufUK
On the day the whole political establishment claims we do not live in a two tier country, they announce this.
Note, the NHS makes NO drugs available exclusively to white people.
This evening I voted for single living military accommodation to be brought up to the Decent Homes Standard.
Unfortunately Labour, the Tories and Reform all refused to support this.
Steel tariffs cut both ways.
Chris Fox, Business and Industry spokesperson, warned the government that businesses relying on steel not made in the UK risk being hit with higher costs and called for an immediate review to exempt any steel that cannot be produced domestically.
Our democracy is under threat. From the Kremlin to Mar-a-Lago, powerful men are trying to destroy our great country.
Our new laws would ban foreign money, block foreign ads, and stop tech giants like Elon Musk buying influence.
We need action now. Only our party is offering it.
Corridor care is a national scandal that shames our NHS. It is incredible that Labour ministers have broken their promise. Where are the figures? What do they have to hide? (2/2)
May has come and gone and the Government continues to delay publishing data on the corridor care crisis, failing to keep to their own deadline. Today I wrote to the Health Secretary, urging him to set out a clear, firm deadline to publish this data. (1/2)
Nearly a year since the Strategic Defence Review, the Defence Investment Plan is still missing.
With an aggressive Kremlin and unstable White House, Ministers must publish the DIP now. We are calling for the use of Defence Bonds to raise £20bn to end this stagnation.
Tough questions need to be asked about young people’s pathway to welfare, which is far too direct. But fixing the jobs market is critical.
Hospitality jobs have halved in four years. Government tax policy has directly led to job destruction in this sector. With it has gone millions of young people’s first job opportunity.
When pulling the tax lever, it cannot just be seen as revenue raising. Thought has to be given to the wider economic consequences.
It’s no good coming up with clever schemes to improve CVs or hand out bungs to businesses to create short term placements. The state’s role should not be so reactive. It should be creating the conditions required for a flourishing jobs market - shaping it, not correcting it.

Stop scrolling and hear this: fertiliser prices are surging due to Trump’s reckless war. And you're about to feel it in your weekly food bill.
@SarahDykeLD breaks it down. ⬇️
Our plans for social media would protect children from harmful content with a film-style age rating system.
Companies pushing harmful and addictive algorithms on their platforms should be nowhere near our kids.
For too long, social media giants have profited from addictive algorithms while treating children’s mental health as an afterthought.
We have a clear plan to protect young people’s mental health, starting with tackling harmful social media.

It is insulting to every working class family to suggest that it’s somehow part of our culture to be vile, nasty and sexist and that anyone appalled at the Reform candidate in Makerfield’s comments is somekind of middle class pearl clutcher.
A speaker at last Saturday's far-right rally pointed at Parliament and demanded Islam be removed from this building.
Lib Dem peer @shaffaqmohd brought that moment to the Lords and what it meant for his sons who serve this country.
JUST ANNOUNCED: Jake Austin is the Liberal Democrat candidate in the Makerfield by-election.🔶
Born and raised in Hindley, Jake will champion the issues that matter most to people: cutting the cost of living, protecting our natural environment and supporting our local high streets and businesses.
The UK is only 55% food secure.
Meanwhile, England is now the only country in Europe where farmers don't receive financial support from its government to produce food.
With wars raging across the world, the @LibDems are demanding that the Government take food security seriously
